At what point do they give the job to Dominguez? The leash has ti be getting pretty short. Yankees and Red Sox breathing down their necks. Hoffman closing a game in Yankee stadium is worrying right now.

Hoffman’s pitching has been awful lately. But pitching is about skill, not “trying hard.” Would you tell a golfer who all of a sudden can’t hit the ball straight that they are being lazy or dogging it? Sometimes you hit a bad run. No one feels worse about Hoffman than Hoffman.

Not by the bullpen, Mike. By the closer. You have to feel for the starters. Gausman pitched his guts out today. Must be so deflating.

Thank goodness the front office needed to use the trade deadline to play 4D chess.

So frustrating, but I've pointed out before how the Jays would've had to be oracles to get the right closer at either the pre-season free agent market or at the deadline. Relievers are always a massive crapshoot - ideally you have 2 or 3 who can close so if one goes like this you can use another.
