Pretty wild to be living in a time when humans are being forced to work in order to even be considered deserving of life or even to be considered human at all, while simultaneously human labor is being systematically eliminated from the concept of work.

I am personally fully supportive of Canadian electoral reform. We need to abandon first-past-the post single member ridings, and move towards a system that better represents the will of the public. This will make parties more responsive. Consider co-signing.
Make Canada's voting system fair and proportional!
Canadians are tired of our broken voting system. After Trudeau broke his promise of reforming our electoral system in 2015, apathy and cynicism towards our democracy has grown. If Canada is to weath...

First #crystallography post in a while! Challenging sample, air-sens. and quickly desolvating, in the end managed to get something half decently diffracting. Wasn't expecting that the material would also be RT phosphorescent! A nice Thursday morning. Today's soundtrack: Clutch - Robot Hive/Exodus

📢 The Ontario NDP has once again committed to proportional representation in their platform!

They promise to replace first-past-the-post with a mixed-member proportional system where every vote counts.

Let’s make sure electoral reform stays on the agenda!

The U.S. is a warning: first-past-the-post weakens democracy, fueling a two-party system, policy lurch, and instability.

A small vote edge shouldn’t mean total control.

Proportional representation ensures every vote counts and keeps democracy strong.

For the evening crowd: I put words to my nagging concerns, which last semester became fully realized fears, about how students use generative AI - despite the very real harms that generative AI has caused and continues to cause.

We have a lot to think about as we write our syllabi.
The ethical case for resisting AI
I had my moment of reality regarding generative AI in my chemistry and physics classes this past term. I’ve always had the student frustration “I can’t Google your homework problems!” as a point of…
