The world's richest man - perhaps the richest man who has ever lived - gloating about shutting down aid for the world's poorest people. All while posing as the champion of the common man.

The great lie of populism in its most naked and morally putrid form.

To the people scooping up sackfuls of shitty & unhelpful arguments from other place & dragging them over here so you can point at them…
Yes.
I know you want to be seen to have been on the right side of the culture wars.
But still.
Leave that stuff where it was.
Let it die there.

Gutted about the assisted dying bill. Just praying now that they don’t extend it past terminal illness. The world has got a little more unsafe for disabled people and those with mental health issues. Suicidal people NEED everyone to help them resist killing themselves, not be encouraged to do it.

A piece that completely misunderstands the role of religion AND non-religion in decision-making.

Faith isn’t an exotic factor on top of a neutral base. All of us draw on our metaphysical commitments when we make ethical decisions, consciously or not. Nobody stands nowhere.
Some have said the assisted dying debate has been "parliament at its best". I'm not so sure. Instead I think religion has quietly played a dominant role in the debate, distorted the conversation, with few believing MPs being straightforward about why. My piece for the i. inews.co.uk/opinion/mps-...
MPs are being dishonest about why they oppose assisted dying
For many, religious belief plays a part - and MPs should make clear when that is the case

I’m not an MP any more so don’t vote tomorrow - and was absent for the 2015 vote because of cancer treatment. But I’ve followed this closely, read the Bill, read the briefings, thought long and hard and I’d be voting no to assisted suicide tomorrow if I were still an MP. 1/7

The inheritance tax thing is hurting the Prime Minister as "Starmer" rhymes with "Farmer" and "Harmer." Given this, here are other things the PM should be wary about legislating on, in future: llamas. Robert Palmer. BBC One drama. Michelle Obama. Bananas In Pyjamas.

The harmonious mood of Donald Trump’s transition team at Mar-a-Lago has been shattered by a row between two of his closest confidants, Elon Musk and Boris Epshteyn, a legal adviser
Is Elon Musk already outstaying his welcome at Trump’s side?
