I tried to pretend I was one of those "we can be patriotic too" liberals yesterday, but I ended up just sitting in my armchair with a book and noise cancelling headphones to drown out the pyrotechnics. The reality hit me; I'm ashamed of what we've become and who we've allowed ourselves to idolize.
Audiobooks don't count and pretending they do is detrimental to kids that need to understand the importance of being able to read well.

1. Latin is still exceptionally relevant
2. Everyone should have a chance to study it
3. Sitwell imagines a world of soulless worker bees who are allowed no interests
