19. Fishing

Fishing in the River Naidraug is illegal and ill-advised - it isn't exactly clean. The Aegir Sea, however, is abundant and Vangr's fishing industry is thriving. A middle-class Tsentrian household doesn't get through a week without at least one Vangran fish dinner.
Alright, #NovemberWorldbuilders, this is the nichest of niche questions. If you have a notable lake/river in your world, how does it impact the economy? Do people fish from it? Are there any other resources they use? Maybe barges use it for transporting goods?

19. Challenging parts of writing

For me it's exposition. I struggle with that ever-present problem: I know exactly what's going to happen, but I need to write it in a way that both feels natural and explains things sufficiently, but not excessively.

Makes my head hurt.

18. Famous characters

After the events of the first story, the MCs have essentially been added to the history books, but for what they are, not who they are. Their names aren't well known quite yet, but their status as Mothers' Inheritors and a newly instated adventure guild sure is.

18. MC and water

Jyn's upbringing in the desert led him to view water as a precious resource that he was eternally denied during his training, but now that he lives in a land with rain and rivers, he's grown to appreciate it as an everyday sight.

Still can't swim, though.
Greetings, #NovemberWorldbuilders! Let's talk about your MC today. What is their relationship with water like? Do they know how to swim? Have they ever caught a fish? Or is it just something that gets in the way during their long journey? Maybe they've never *seen* a body of water so big

18. Favourite characters I've created

Honestly, these two goofballs. Jynrahd and Trikk really are like the two sides of my personality given form and I love them both individually and together.

To think they started as entirely unrelated DnD character sheets...

17. Students

Sintadil Magical College features prominently in one part of the story. The group are assisted by Varnivus, the head boy, who turns out to be a puppet of the villain.
The second story introduces Eleonora, a dark elven student of transmutation to begs to study under Trikk.

17. River creatures

Hríd the Immovable, the giant sea turtle guardian of Ránn, is said to have spawned before his death. In doing so, he created the Encrustoise, a shining species of turtle (not tortoise, the name is a misnomer) found in rivers across Tsentrin and Nóatún.
#NovemberWorldbuilders time! Are there any animals or creatures who live in this body of water? Or maybe wildlife that comes to take a drink? Maybe they aren't animals, but... some kind of sentient entity? What is it? How do you classify it? How do the locals treat it?

17. Hobbies

My biggest pastime away from the google doc is DnD. I enjoy both playing and running games, and they have really helped contribute to and build my fantasy settings.

I also play video games, read, occasionally draw and look after my bearded dragon.

16. Fighting intolerance

Jynrahd is the type of straight man to gladly wear a rainbow cape and walk next to you at the gay pride parade. If anyone gives you grief, he looms menacingly over them and growls, "You got a problem?"

He fights to protect his friends, however they may exist.

16. River legends

The River Naidraug forms the moat encircling Sintadil College. They say that the moat has been hit with so many stray enchantments and had so much alchemical residue dumped into it over the centuries that to fall in is to risk your doom!

Or get dysentery.
Hey there, #NovemberWorldbuilders! Tell me a story about your river/lake. Do the locals have any beliefs about it? A myth or legend or a tie to their religion? What makes this bit of water so important to their culture?

16. Plotter vs Pantser

I'm a lawful plantser. I plan my story in bullet points and then write those points, allowing whatever works to happen between them.

Though I could never start without the plan, hence the lawful part.

15. Music & writing

I can't write in silence, that's for sure. I keep a playlist of ambient music videos with no ads for times of brainstorming and drafting.
When I write in a public place, the bustle of the world around me is more than enough background noise.

15. Important river/lake

Lake Redstart lies atop Robin Plateau and was the home of the Countless Fangs goblin camp until their destruction four years ago.
Trikk was born there, and he transports the party there in a panicked teleportation spell after the heist on Sintadil.
Welcome to our third week, #NovemberWorldbuilders! This time we're talking about important RIVERS or LAKES in our world! But, tbh, any sufficiently important body of water will do. Also, don't feel obliged to answer; sometimes I cover niche topics that aren't for everyone!

14. Post your pets

Any chance to gush over her!
This is a Tiamat. Baby Tea. Teacup. Teacake. Tealeaf. Teatree. Etc.

I finally fulfilled my dream of owning a bearded dragon when I brought her home in August. In a few short months, she's grown up and become a fiesty friend!

13. Kind queer characters

Míach embodies kindness. He's an able physician and benevolent priest, willing and glad to listen to your problems over a cup of herbal tea.
And he's openly gay, gushing about his husband Goibniu whenever he gets the chance.

13. Church teachings

Elduri teaches emotional expression and responsible use of power.
Vatnir teaches weathering of suffering and protection of the weak.
Loftin teaches that knowledge is power and cunning is a virtue.
Jurdr teaches hard work, determination and traditionalism
It's #NovemberWorldbuilders time! We're talking about the concepts of GOOD and EVIL in our fictional worlds this week. Tell me: what does your world's authoritative figures say about morality? Is there a church or governing body that tells people how to live? What do they command?

13. Where I write

I'll confess: I'm one of those public writer types who writes on his laptop in cafes. I've never been asked about my book, as much as I secretly wish someone would.
While I still look young enough to conceivably be a student I don't think anyone will judge.

12. MC as a child

Jynrahd was obedient and submissive. He had to be; his mother was the chieftain and general of the army and she would not stand for anything else.

If Jyn hadn't had his brother, he wouldn't have survived his early years.

12. Villain's ethics

Why, chaos has no ethics! Ethics and morals are the ilk of my mistress' vulgar sister! I am chaos! I exist...for no given reason, ahahAAAA-!!!

Ah, well, I will add that i exist to please my mistress, Lady Agi. Whatever foul whim she dreams up is my whim!
Hey there, #NovemberWorldbuilders! It's GOOD and EVIL week. Today, tell me about the ethics/morals of your VILLAIN. If you don't have one of those, talk about another character, particularly one who might deviate from protagonist's moral philosophy

12. Writing advice

The best writing advice I've ever been given is don't write for a publicist, or an audience, or a demographic at first. The one person you should write for is yourself. If you're enjoying the storytelling process, the rest will fall into place in time.

11. War

Jynrahd is a veteran of the War of the Mesa. He left home and deserted his people in a desperate search for a better life after his twin brother was killed in battle.
While he suffers from flashbacks and night terrors, he found that new life in Tsentrin and is generally happy.

11. MC's ethics

Contrary to his clan's teachings, that an individual life doesn't matter, he is protective of others to a fault and can be relied upon to do what's right, not what's easy.
He is driven by emotion, however, and his fury can sometimes get the better of him.
Greetings, #NovemberWorldbuilders. Tell me about the ethics of your MC or any character who is important in your world's lore. Are they morally good? Morally grey? Do they have a belief contrary to what others around them believe in? Are there any acts they refuse to do?
