Here's a lesson, folks: When you say someone should explain their reasoning, and they do so, then you respond by dismissing their reasoning with your own wholly conclusory statements, you're being a hypocrite. And thinking "they had the burden of proof" is a defense makes you look incompetent.

This is an excerpt from an April 2021 story on Jacob deGrom's historically bad run support. Early in his 8th season, he'd had 33 starts (out of about 185) where he gave up 0 or 1 runs and didn't get the win.
By my count, Paul Skenes has 14 such starts. He debuted last May and has started 41 games.
