Shame Transport for London have been watering-down the number and quality of their cycle infrastructure schemes over the past few years 🫤

Apparently, according to TfL, this qualifies as acceptable cycle “infrastructure” in 2025

A bit disappointing that there are not more separated cycle tracks on the main roads (like High Holborn and the Kingsway) though 😐

It's about choice and enabling people to cycle and walk if they can and want. Just because some people have built life around the convenience of a car does not mean nobody else shouldn't have the options.
Also, cycling is often just as quick as driving in urban areas where most people live.

Similarly, pointing out how nobody walks on busy roads with no footway helps bat down the often-heard "nobody cycles here so a cycle lane is pointless" trope

My approach to these kind of discussions analogy: "Not everybody can walk – are you against pavements and pedestrian crossings? Shall we rip out pavements if people aren't walking on them 100% of the time?"

So far, nobody has ever been able to counter it and it seems to make people go quiet.

Thames water also did not replace the bollards on C7 on Upper Tooting Road after they finished there earlier this year. They don’t care, and neither do TfL given they still haven’t been replaced despite multiple reports.

I was going to email TfL but thought I’d ask first!
