Mark Carney is not a US politician. There’s no reason he should be putting out a statement on Charlie Kirk’s death.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

It would be so great if Democratic Party elected officials would start acting as if they’re living under a government that will lawlessly kill or arrest them for the crime of political opposition.

it’s hilarious how quickly some in the political media have jumped on the framing of whether the ndp wants to be the “conscience of parliament” (embracing the left, is assumed to mean you can never win popular support) or a real contender for government to try to drive it more to the centre

But in the ONE Edmonton riding where the NDP candidate came in second to the Cons, we could have ended up with an excellent second-term MP who has consistently shown his commitment to leading with kindness and bravery if Liberals had chosen to take their own medicine and "vote strategically."

Just to be really crystal clear, of the ridings in Edmonton where Liberal candidates came in second to Conservatives, ALL of them would have ended up with the same results even if every single NDP supporter had "voted strategically" for the Liberal option.

Working with Blake Desjarlais has been the greatest honour of my life so far.

While a loss is still a loss and this is going to hurt for a very long time, I’m proud of what we did in Edmonton Griesbach and that he gave a voice to so many people who had never felt represented before he was their MP.

One big loss for the community tonight is Two Spirit MP Blake Desjarlais from Edmonton Griesbach

He was the inaugural co-chair of the Canadian Pride Caucus, a multi-partisan group of 2SLGBTQIA+ MPs and Senators in Parliament.

'I want to leave a mark': Meet NDP Blake Desjarlais, Canada's first openly two-spirit MP
For Blake Desjarlais, becoming an MP wasn’t something he thought he'd pursue. But now, after connecting with the NDP ahead of the 2021 federal election, he's made history as Canada's first openly two-...

It is a tight race between Blake and Kerry, and it would be truly heartbreaking (and completely unnecessary) to lose the incredible representative we have in Blake. I'm really excited to see so much support for a truly deserving candidate who has done an incredible amount of work to earn it 🧡

Jagmeet Singh needs to get his ass to Edmonton Griesbach to support incumbent NDP candidate Blake Desjarlais. It’s a neck & neck race there. Please Liberal voters, just this once, vote NDP on Monday to ensure the CONservatives don’t win your riding. Help stop Trumpian politics! VOTE for 🇨🇦

I voted NDP in Edmonton Griesbach to give Blake a chance at being reelected over Kerry Diotte. The Lib candidate is too far behind. I’ve never voted federally for the NDP until Friday morning

Blake has been a *stellar* MP here in Edmonton-Griesbach since 2021. He leads with kindness and integrity, he is super accessible and active in the riding, and I love how committed he is to our community. I am so excited for him to be re-elected and get to continue this great work on April 28 🧡

So many politicians opt to disengage from community and dissapear from view, @blakedesjarlais.bsky.social has been tireless in standing up for our communities alongside us in our riding, and in parliament! Let's not swap that for Kerry Diotte please! 😭 #cdnpoli
Edmonton Griesbach, let's vote for Blake Desjarlais again. Not only is he the strategic vote, he is the best vote if you want an engaged, responsive, intelligent MP to represent you.
I'm using the smartvoting.ca analysis to vote for @blakedesjarlais.bsky.social .
The NDP is within the Margin of Error, and Blake has done a good job representing the riding in the last session.
Plus, it makes for one less of PP's buddies in the House of Commons.

It's been "just this one time" for three elections now--the Liberal government has had TEN YEARS to enact the electoral reform they PROMISED Canadians in 2015. I hope you can understand why people are tired of this.

Most of all, Blake is BY FAR the best MP I have ever had. He leads with kindness, he is *extremely* accessible to his constituents, & he is truly beloved in this riding.

He is an extremely strong candidate, so please don't let anyone lie to you & tell you that *he* is the one splitting the vote.

And if you want the Liberals to form government, one of the worst things you could do *in this riding* would be to vote for the Liberal candidate--it'll split the vote and hand the seat to the Conservative candidate. Why give your biggest competition an extra seat?

This is great messaging. To be clear, a vote for Blake *is* the strategic vote in Edmonton Griesbach.
The NDP in Edmonton Griesbach have a new mailer with an anti-vote splitting message.

NDP MP Blake Desjarlais defeated Conservative Kerry Diotte by 1500 votes in 2021. It’s a rematch in this election and it could be a close race.

We've been so blessed to have such an engaged and active representative, a far cry from the years of being represented by Conservatives who showed up neither in the riding, or in Ottawa. I dearly hope he wins again, going back to Diotte is deeply unappealing. #cdnpoli

We’re not at all entitled to it, and it’s not a given. We’re working hard to earn every vote here in Edmonton Griesbach — the Liberals should try it sometime!
