What if our democratic leaders boycotted the state of the union address and held a giant protest rally outside to give fiery speeches that would dominate the news cycle?

Do not mess with librarians. They let complete strangers borrow their books. For a living. Even the hardcovers. They are so much stronger than you know.

SUPPORT 👏 YOUR 👏 LOCAL 👏 LIBRARY 👏
Checking out a book or ordering one in can tremendously help with keeping libraries open and keeping authors’ books on shelves.

And use the library!
Every time you don't buy a book from Amazon, but use a good indie store who actually values the sale & treats you & your purchase with respect, the sun shines brighter, floofy puppies gambol in fresher grass, & Jeff Bezos's piles sting for just a biiiit longer.

Sounds GREAT to me.

Buy independent.

Seems like a good time to point out that you can download from the library of congress, and it would be worthwhile to download probably as much as you can while you can

These are very good suggestions, but a few key ones are missing: attend library board mtgs and speak in favor (many are on zoom), donate $, and vote for measures and bonds to increase funding. Patrons have real power. Don't let a handful of bigots destroy your library.
One thing before tomorrow:

Use your local libraries.

Get your card.

Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.

Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).

Attend promoted activities.

Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.

Tell your kids that libraries are good.

They are.
