I agree with this so much, I could have written it myself.

Labour backbenchers have been cheering it as a win for the most vulnerable in society. In fact it was aimed at the bond markets, says Guardian columnist Aditya Chakrabortty

Exciting day. Judgement is back from the editor! Great suggestions from @inventingreality.bsky.social and, thankfully, not an overwhelming amount. Off to work I go.

A writer accepts a suggestion from their editor. If the editor is human = that's fine. A healthy author/editor relationship. If it's an LLM, they're a cheat?
So, is this an argument about artistic integrity - or an economic one?
Note: my ms is out with a very human editor.

In Judgement, 'Colours' are an implant that display emotion on the skin. Fear, pain, anger, desire: all visible. You can hide them, but strong feelings can break through. They shape trust, betray weakness, and turn every confrontation into a moment of forced honesty. #Judgement #SciFi #Worldbuilding

i want to be more optimistic about technology. however, i refuse to be exited about billionaires using tech for oppressive systems. i’m a star trek girlie. i want tech that benefits everyone—not a handful of white dudes with pretensions of godhood.

I think this is absolutely accurate.

The UK could’ve been a true tech leader – but it has cheerfully submitted to US dominance in a way that may cost it dear

If you're an author being published by small and tiny presses, please shamelessly promote your work, however much your temperament might militate against it. I've seen many wonderful authors at this level so quickly forgotten when they die, you deserve all the readers you can get while you're alive.

Sometimes the easiest way to refresh a sci-fi trope is to flip its moral centre. Take the “chosen one” narrative: what happens when the prophecy is wrong or the hero refuses the role?
Subversion can reveal a deeper truth the trope usually hides. #Writing #SciFi #AmWriting

The original seed for Judgement came from a simple writing prompt. Without thinking about it, finish the line below;

"Susan said that..."

Take away those first three words. If you still have a working sentence, you might have the launchpad for your next idea.

Bibliosmia - that mix of paper, ink, and time itself when you pick up a book. Perfect.

As someone who spends way too long surrounded by drafts and dog-eared novels, I feel this one deeply.

New book scent or old library vibe — what’s your pick?

I think it's important to trust yourself as a writer. If your characters are doing something that you didn't expect - embrace it, that's your subconscious knowing how to fix the story.

Conflict and change are the engines if story. If a scene doesn't have these, it's just a diary entry.
