The corruption of the US Supreme Court has arguably been the most serious single contributor to the US's transformation into autocracy
Reading an article titled "Why didn't Brazilian democracy die?" and a key part of the story is a Supreme Court that actually did its job

This is 100% true, just as the press spent ZERO time on the attempted mass assassination of the entirety of democratic leadership through pipe bombs just a few years ago. It’s literally never even discussed! A MAGA terrorist tried to kill all of the leading dems!
I can't tell if it's because I'm too NYC focused but does it feel like the news cycle spent more time crashing out on the fact that NYC picked a brown Muslim dude as is primary candidate then it did on a right wing extremist who shot 2 Minnesota legislators killing one, her husband and dog?

remarkable stuff. Listen with gratitude and resolve
Protests should not only express dissent but also serve as credible threats of sustained action, such as strikes, boycotts, or other forms of collective withholding to compel systemic change.

NOT. SWIM GOGGLES.

Friends.

Do not wear swim goggles at a protest.

If you take a projectile to the face the force can pop your eyeball out of its socket.

If you're going to invest in protest eyewear, use impact resistant safety goggles and tape the vents.
Take a bandana, bottle of water, swim goggles, charged phone.
Stand behind a barrier or parked car, leave or sit if trouble starts
If you can, go protest tomorrow.

No protest is ever 100% safe, but there is safety in numbers.

And there will be numbers.

Which is good. Because we need numbers right now.

only a society that has spent years finding ways to drive people further apart would have people saying fool things like"it is cringe to be in a large group of people who support you"
I get the sense that a lot of people see protesting as cringe because they don't understand what it accomplishes, and I get that... to them, I say: just go. Experience what it feels like to be part of a Very Large Crowd of your fellow citizens. That feeling has radical political implications.

Mobilization has also been nationwide. Anecdotal evidence suggests that some activists are intentionally demonstrating in their local town rather than just traveling to a nearby big city for events.

some folks need to let MLK rest or pick up a book fr because why the only time you have something to say about him or protest is when somebody throws a rock or pushes a car?

People ran pieces about how the discipline of the movement was actually proof of a disturbing and dangerous groupthink. We got whole columns of people complaining about having to speak with official spokesmen.
the 2024 student encampments on college campuses had movement discipline and the state still beat them, tear gassed them, expelled them, and in some cases deported them
