So SCOTUS denied Kim Davis’ request to overturn Obergefell.

She objected to it because it runs contrary to her Christian beliefs.

But while Jesus was silent on the subject of homosexuality, he clearly condemned remarriage by divorcees. Sanctimonious Kim, however, is thrice divorced and remarried

Absolutely correct
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Role model of the Democrats who caved to Republicans:

Like Chamberlain, they have proven that they are hopelessly ill-equipped for this moment in history.

We need strong Democrats to primary EVERY fucking one of them.

Any Democrat who "trusts" notoriously deceitful Republicans to keep their word on an ACA vote deal is too naive/stupid to be in office.

Let's fix that next time they are up for election. #PrimaryTheIdiots

An agreement to agree to do a later vote is NOT an enforceable contract so what in the actual hell are Americans getting out of this deal??

Sanders: Let’s be clear… If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are going to see at least a doubling in their premiums… if resolution is passed tonight, we are on a path way to throw 15 million Americans off of medicaid and the affordable care act, 15 million.

80% of Democratic voters want a new leader in the Senate.

Does that matter at all to Democratic senators?

Dems have spent the past two months saying they're fighting to address the crisis of spiking healthcare costs and now they're caving for a deal that does nothing to address healthcare costs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And Senator Markey. Any more sane Democrats?

I hope Dems don't capitulate. Don't ever trust Republicans. They've tried to kill Obamacare since it was passed and signed into law in 2010. They're viciously cruel.
No health care, no deal.

Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

Texas Lt Gov Dan Patrick plans to donate $1m from his campaign funds to help establish TPUSA chapters at every college in Texas, claiming that “the Lord put it on my heart” to do so.

Did you know gov shutdowns aren’t in the Constitution, any law, or Court ruling?
They exist because of a 1980 OLC memo—a lawyer’s opinion that everyone just went along with. Before 1980, funding gaps didn’t cause shutdowns.

What one memo created, another can undo. How the next D admin can undo it:
Why America’s Government Shutdowns Exist and How to End Them

Am an atheist, but as far as I am concerned, Jesus in The New Testament is pretty clear on how we should treat our fellow man. It was written by some wise people. I am all for it if prayers said outside an ICE facility are pricking the federal conscience. I hope it continues and humanity prevails.
