Trump is notorious for stiffing contractors, yet millions of blue collar voters are convinced that he’s looking out for them.

I’ve got an even better idea. They should have fucking paid air traffic controllers throughout the shutdown.
The Trump administration, in their infinite stupidity and spite, decided that ICE agents terrorizing American cities was a critical function, but keeping air travel safe was not.

“She also boasted in the statement about a handful of provisions in the bill aimed at sparing Alaska from the most severe cuts to Medicaid and food stamps that are set to be imposed on the rest of the nation”
She’s proud that she gave a big “Fuck You” to the other 49 states, but not her own.

At best they’re terribly naive. At worst they’re either stupid or spineless or (worst of all) willing collaborators. If the latter, the big tent should not accommodate them. If any of the other are true, they are not competent to serve as US Senators.

The thing is that every one of those “sellouts” claim to want the same thing as their peers - to restore essential funding for healthcare.
But they capitulated to Republicans in exchange for worthless promises.

If Schumer was coach of a football team with this kind of performance, he’d have been fired long ago. He’s clearly NOT leading, since they’re not following.
If he won’t step down, Senate Dems need to replace him.
… PERIOD.

At least Marie Antoinette said “Let them eat cake.”
With today’s GOP it’s “Let them die.”

I noticed that as well.
So the obvious question is, why did they cave? Are they:
a) stupid
b) naive
c) spineless
d) collaborators
e) all of the above

Appeasement always feels less painful in the moment, but it invariably brings far more pain in the long term.

What possible guardrails???
If the Constitution isn’t enough of a guardrail for Congressional Republicans, no deal would change that, beyond the resignations of Trump, his entire administration, and every Congressional Republican.

Kaine is clueless. He needs to retire or be primaried, along with every other Dem senator who voted for this, and Chuck Schumer for his leadership failure.

Our Fuckwit in Chief decided that the men and women who keep our skies safe were not critical staff, and therefore wouldn’t be paid during the shutdown.
He did, however, declare that terrorizing American cities was a critical function, so ICE Agents WOULD be paid.
