The #PEPFAR tracker is following the real time impact of each passing day of the funding suspensions spurred by the USAID funding freeze. Although there is a waiver to allow dispersion of ART, this is not happening because clinic workers have been laid off. People are dying.

And here it is: NYT reports that internal emails show that DOGE officials gaining access to Treasury data wanted to use it to pause USAID payments.

This underscores the arguments I made in the piece/thread below about why Treasury's defense of Musk's access is such a sham.

Of particular concern with Musk's takeover of Treasury is the prospect that he may try to eliminate sanctions on foreign adversaries and their agents. Watch for outflows into foreign treasuries and chatter from sanctioned individuals that may indicate changes in status.

I hope people see how truly alarming this is:

1. Musk's team, who may not even be US govt employees yet, have complete access to OPM's databases of PII on federal employees and have locked out career employees

2. Musk's people trying to do same with THE US TREASURY MASTER PAYMENT SYSTEM 🚨

Great point from @juliettekayyem.bsky.social: After Trump blamed DEI for the plane crash, his Transportation Sec quietly cleaned it up while simultaneously praising Trump. That combo is very reminiscent of Trump on Covid.
