Here are some highlights of what you’re in for in Episode 1 of @podsthething.bsky.social, including part of a heated debate (or de-bait, if you will), the challenges of doing Shakespeare on microphone, and that eternal question: what am I saying?

ICYMI, I was able to finish a video that I was close to deleting because for two months, I was depressed and had writer's block. I guess sometimes publishing a video is its own reward.

Finished Dispatch. One of my surprise favourite games of the year, even if the final episode was a little bit cut-scene heavy.

Upgrading Nighthawks to Godot 4.5, awaiting disaster.

Oh.

Oh, that was almost worryingly non-eventful.

Reasons To Be Glad You Grew Up Reading Discworld, #34,123
Hah yes this.

Some of the books I loved as a teen have really not held up, while others did and are clearly excellent.

But there were books I was also just not ready to read, and my opinions on them were a waste of space.

My computer is going on 15 years (thereabouts) and it's on its last legs. Therefore I have chosen the worst months of the year to ask for support in getting new components to build myself a new computer that will hopefully last for another decade.

Nighthawks: Its Wadjet Eye so you know already that this is going to be great. It going the Text RPG route is a surprise for sure, but an exciting one. Interesting characters and an equally intriguing World to explore from what was shown.

Rules of non-interference and respect for other cultures, while important and highly admirable, should, in light of so many exposures to groups like the Edo, the Ba'ku and the Ligonians over the years, always have the corollary "Assuming they are not taking the absolute fucking piss, obviously."
what star trek political opinion would you have if you lived in universe? would you still be weird about the xindi? would you be one of the people who protests the Klingon embassy in Paris? Me, i'd be a borg truther

Reworking a thing about a vampire can control dreams and not for the first time wondering what you actually get if you pay for the service in Total Recall. My memory tends to be pretty good for facts, but rubbish for sensation, and I tend to find dreams not very immersive. I would be a bad client.

Space Quest VII confirmed?

(no)
My Space Quest site, Roger Wilco's Virtual Broomcloset, launched 30 years ago this month. That makes it one of the oldest video game fan sites on the web.

To celebrate the milestone, I've updated the site for the first time in ages with tons of new content. Check it out! wiw.org/~jess/roger.html

I am gonna do a Halloween stream tonight! It will be the Nighthawks demo, possibly followed by Little Nightmares if I have time! It'll be a bit later than my usual start time, likely around 8 PM Pacific (in about 45 minutes).
