I got an alert about potential aurora, so I went out with my camera but nothing doing. No sign of them, and the nearly full moon would probably obscure them anyway. Here’s the moon over the Stray in Harrogate instead. #photography

I’ve just finished reading When There Are Wolves again by E.J. Swift. I loved it. A vision of a possible future where we manage to change course and possibly build a better world. Lovely evocative writing. I’d like to visit the Somerset marshes in the book.

Gideon Coe doing Slow Sunday on 6music is just the best radio. There is no finer listening.

Andromeda galaxy. This was a single 40s exposure so the disc is quite faint, but the two satellite galaxies can be seen. #astrophotography

Another clear night, so I managed to get some photos of Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) in the skies over Harrogate. It was low in the north west, just above the tree tops, just before 8pm. Interesting to see some structure in the tail and a definite greenish glow around the comet. #astrophotography #comet

I've just got back home from seeing Frankenstein at the cinema. I loved it. Beautiful set design and I was entirely engrossed in the film, carried along with the plot and almost sorry to see it end. It's the best telling of the novel's plot that I've seen. Definitely one to see in the cinema.

At last a clear night! I was finally able to get some photos of Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) this evening in the skies over Harrogate. #photography #astrophotography #comet

This is an appalling proposal from the Tories. As I understand it, this means that if, for example, someone on ILR wanted to give something back and become a foster parent, as soon as the child arrived and became their dependent, the Tories would deport that person for the sin of doing a good deed.
Via @sundersays.bsky.social the Conservatives' draft legislation - absolutely clear that it applies to (and is intended to apply to) legal permanent residents claiming state pension (on the basis of their contributions) or child benefit for British kids.

@warmovietheatre.bsky.social is this one on your list for the podcast?
CROSS OF IRON (1977). Think THE WILD BUNCH on the Russian front with even more slow motion action. Peckinpah shifts between Nazisploitation & diamond hard anti war film. Coburn supported by a great cast, Mason, Warner & Schell. Definitely deserves a place on my war is noir film list: boxd.it/v8kuQ

Paris-Tours was an entertaining race. It’s much better when you don’t know who is going to win until they actually reach the line.
