Mike Johnson just said if you are for reducing the deficit, this bill is for you.

The bill adds 3-4 trillion dollars to the deficit.

They just lie.

Dear Congress,
Libraries are the place we all belong. The place where Mister Rogers’ neighbors collide at the library to help one another. We come together to embrace library joy. What good is the world without libraries and museums? ❤️‍🩹

Call, email Congress! Help libraries & museums! We need you 💛

Don’t change your subject headings. There is no library jail. Keep using the real names not these fake ones.

Obeying in advance is worse than those doing the change because when you obey with soenthing that is clearly wrong you are putting false information into official “fact” places.
Librarians doing anticipatory obedience 😡 🤢 💔

ALA and state/regional library orgs really need to get on this student loan looming crisis. If we're going to mandate an MLIS for librarianship, then they need to be on the frontlines fighting the destruction of PSLF and IBR.
We've really got to spend some of @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social 's lobbying capital on student loans right now.

Think membership numbers are bad now? Wait until an entire generation of library workers is in default.
I wouldn't be a librarian today without student loans. Next to no one from my economic class, from my generation would be.

I wouldn't have taken those loans without the promise of forgiveness for nonprofit work.

The agreement I signed, that I'm bound to as a loanee, should bind the loaner, too.

In this culture of rampant consumerism, the library is a bastion of counter culture. There one can check out things for free. Great books filled with profound ideas are all available for free.

If you thought it wasn’t possible—well, here we are. Musk pulled $80 million in funding authorized by Congress straight from NYC’s bank account. The federal government took the funds and called it a “clawback” of taxpayer money. A lot of others would simply call it stealing.

If you support any of this, you’re honestly just a terrible person. People’s lives are being upended and destroyed. For every 1% increase in unemployment, 40,000 people die—yet some are celebrating.

Congress was denied entry to both the U.S. Department of Education and the Treasury, where Musk staffers blocked the doors. Along with its appropriations responsibilities, Congress holds oversight authority over federal agencies. Blocking congressional access to these agencies is illegal.

This is becoming absurd—federal employees are now being told to remove pronouns from their email signatures. We will always stand by our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, no matter how many things we’re asked to delete or change. Inclusivity is at the core of who we are.

NO
I don't remember
I haven't seen anyone
I don't know
Fuck off

Ok, maybe not the last one, but erase your memory

The only way to preserve literature is by collecting physical copies.

I know, Kindle users, it sucks—but your digital copy can be deleted any time.
