interested to see how the frame pricing will shake out, esp given the index is still 1k
assuming they don't just pull the index from sale i could see them reducing the price of it to move existing inventory, but that'd push the frame to trend higher to make it seem worthwhile

valve wins the vr race yet again because nobody seems to want to make headsets that reach 144hz despite smoothness being a huge factor of vr immersion and reducing simulation sickness, very glad i waited before upgrading from my index

considering the odd changes between the original ps2 kh1 and fm/hd and the fact that people are experimenting with replacing hd files with the ps2 originals to recover stats/functionality/ai behaviors, it would be cool to see a definitive "final unmix" mod www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLlS...

i'm thinking a big part of this is because it enables the big studios to treat developers as commodities. it's easier to fire and hire developers when you compartmentalize them into single disciplines whose job is to crank out generic work after a specification
This is the unfortunate fallout of "just kitbash levels from pieces made by 3D artists, yes even the graybox... you want what? something unique? no no no, it's gotta be used at least X times before they make it, otherwise it's not an efficient use of our money" driven development... and it sucks.
it's unbelievable that there aren't decent 3D level editors in active development.
you'd be hard-pressed to find a more high-impact, highly-historically-explored, yet under-served problem space in gamedev tooling today

oh the first run uzdoom experience is wonderful, you can load it up with a fresh config and start doom and be more or less happy with the results, tweaking from there being a preference rather than a necessity, really excited for the proper 4.14.3 (then eventually 5.0) launch!

modding tf2 for casual compatibility is reverting in the same way bethesda game modding has progressed, we now have to utilize a very new piece of software, manage load order very carefully, and even if you do everything right something might still explode

i think when you add fishing to a game that isn't about fishing but really put care into the fishing mechanics and how fishing integrates with the game it enhances the whole experience, like abiotic factor isn't a fishing game but the fishing in it is fun and benefits the overall gameplay loop

still fucked up to me that amidst a low point in my probably poor decision to buy a bunch of covert items for knife upgrades, i dejectedly decided to open a couple cases that i had armory points for and immediately unboxed a clean stat trak skeleton knife, putting me way up (though i might keep it)

kingdom hearts 1 got a pretty damn good pc port but the ui assets are still kinda stuck in the 720p era, so i gave it a go at fixing up just the hp/mp bar (and fixing a few of its faults) and after 2 days of careful vectorization, color/gradient matching, etc i think it's done!

epic games: refuses to release alan wake 2 on steam, remedy rapidly losing money and ceo steps down because of it
also epic games: gives away alan wake 2 to ps+ subscribers
make it make sense, i would genuinely love to hear the explanation for this from the decision makers
