Contre la désinformation, Mediapart quitte X

L’élection de Donald Trump transforme la plateforme d’Elon Musk en arme de désinformation massive. Mediapart refuse de servir la cause des ennemis du journalisme et de l’intérêt général.

Anyone else getting what seems to be an inordinate number of bot followers on this system? Pictures of young women, possibly AI generated, with a few hundred “followers “ and following thousands, but no posts. How about it @bsky.app ?

The moderators were also there to stimulate discussion, ask interesting questions, and keep people engaged in a positive way. I know because I was one of them (@humanistNerd speaking here). While not every conversation here needs that level of interaction, I do miss having that function available.

One fundamental for continuing the good feeling here or anywhere is wise, proactive moderation. In the early days of social media, systems like The Source or Compuserve had visible moderators who could intervene when “flamers” (read trolls for mist of you) got out of hand.
Others have noted it but I will too: The big reason Bluesky is so hot right now is that the people who add value to social media - the frequent posters in specific fields - are here now, talking to each other and creating the "spectator value" that draws users and attention.

1 in 5 Americans are Catholic?
1 in 3 OWN A GUN? (and they think it’s every other person?)
This explains why conservative fear-mongering is such an easy play in America.

OPINION: At this stage in the war, it might be reasonable to start viewing part of Russia as an ally that can be rallied to fight against Putin’s regime and his imperialism.
Time for Ukraine to work with the Russian opposition
The Russian opposition has expressed its desire to cooperate with Ukraine since the war started. It is now time to accept this offer and pool efforts.

This document released by Estonia's MOD, which proposes a strategy for Ukraine to win & Russia to be defeated, is a must-read.
We only wish that France, Germany, the US & the UK had issued a similar paper.
It must, in our common interest, inspire all the Allies.

Ukraine must join the European Union
Ukrainians are showing an entire Continent what it means to be European. They are showing the will to fight, and it is on us to deliver a future worth fighting for.
