My buddy James Steidle telling it like it is!
We should have made it a rule that our resource riches are reinvested in Canada, not siphoned out of our country. The billions earned off of Canadian timber shouldn’t be used to create a parallel industry cradled in a competitor’s bosom.
Sawmilling turncoats
Canada currently fulfills around 25 percent of American lumber demand, a drop from 35 percent in the 1990s. That number shrinks every time a Canadian sawmill gets dismantled and shipped to the US. It ...

The 2018 steel tariffs just called to remind you that steel is produced by a tiny sliver of the economy, but used as an input by a much broader swathe of manufacturers.

"If you're a transactional sort of person who thinks that if I win, you lose, you might think of that [tariffs] as giving you bargaining power. But I think that's the wrong frame for thinking about economics.

Economics is about relationships. What can we do better together than we could apart..."

Any politician who says a main policy platform is to decrease our primary journalism has lost the plot, if you ask me. We need to protect this institution, for it plays an essential role in our Canadian identity, society and democracy.

Love this thinking. We have manufacturers already considering moving to the states over fear of tariffs. Why not get a reverse brain drain going in response.

If I were Canadian PM I would immediately:

1. Create a new $15B science fund

2. Offer any credentialed US scientist funding for lab startup and replacement of NIH grants if they move to Canada

3. Immediate permanent residency

4. Citizenship after 2 years

Overnight a science superpower

Just a reminder that diversity is, in fact, a source of strength, that diverse and inclusive armies outperform exclusionary ones on modern battlefields, and that this anti-DEI witch hunt will actually harm cohesion in the US military

The Alberta UCP government has made several changes to the province’s coal policy since taking office.

Some seem abrupt, but records show communication between industry and government departments has been continuous, extensive and influential.
