Every now and then I can find a quiet beauty in LA’s crumbling infrastructure.

Hoo, boy:

"is" is impossible to see, kerning is trash

"LA IS OPEN" is fuzzy at the edges whereas "RISE. REBUILD. REIMAGINE" is sharp

"OPEN" looks like they got the font from dafont

Center justified with a left justified tagline making it way lopsided

I feel like maybe it should just not be the job of any government to determine who is and is not a member of a free press
Councilmember Ysabel Jurado has introduced a motion to protect journalists covering protests. The motion: LAPD will create a public campaign on how to obtain LAPD-issued press passes along w/ signing MoUs between press groups and the city to create an agreement on conduct at protests.

Watch as LA City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson awkwardly tries and fails to engineer a loss of quorum as an excuse to end public comment because too many people were demanding they take action about LAPD on horseback helping ICE by brutalizing protesters at #NoKings 2.0 in Downtown LA

Great work by @resedaforall.bsky.social and the Reseda Neighborhood Council, standing in solidarity with our neighbors, in every language. Time for LA City Council to take this effort across our whole city.

The city wants to turn the north half of one of the two main parks in Reseda in to a storm water capture park. This is the area where families meet to have parties with their families. Any given weekend multiple tents would be up. We were promised a splash pad. That’s not there.

My Neighborhood Council is hosting a Know Your Rights Training on Thursday. We’ve distributed thousands of red cards and community defense resources. Come get trained on your rights!

Anecdotally I’m hearing our aggressive red card campaign has made a difference. It’s no where near enough, but folks are using the resources we are supplying to help defend employees and have a response plan. How to convince every other nc to follow suit?

My neighborhood council is on pace to offer red cards to every single service business in Reseda. Every restaurant, every mechanic, every beauty store, every grocery store, every gas station. And we did this within a week.

Megaevent organizers must be in full-out panic mode right about now.

I see some reporting that "individuals whose entry serves U.S. national interests" includes special exceptions for World Cup and Olympic athletes but I can't imagine that also includes fans who want to travel here

Both the sinners soundtrack and score are available free with LA City public library card on Freegal. You also get 5 free downloads a week. I loved the music from this movie, so just sharing for anyone who might also enjoy it.

The letters from the many angry city employees are also worth reading.

Looks like L.A. City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto will have at least one opponent in 2026: Marissa Roy, who currently works for State A.G. Rob Bonta as a deputy attorney general.

Roy, who handles consumer protection cases, filed paperwork with the state creating her campaign committee

What does it mean for the future of attracting leadership in Los Angeles city government when bravery and honesty are met with public humiliation and scapegoating. We won’t have a great city when this is the reward for excellence.

This is a textbook example of conflict of interest and I’m shocked at how blatant this is.

Something I think about a lot is that Democratic protectionism around corruption has led us to this moment in many ways. The failure to aggressively root it out, leaves them open to attacks and what about moments. It’s a normalization of expectations and reactions that have lowered the bar.
