Here a sample of the science that didn’t get reviewed and thus can’t get funded by NIH yesterday.

Research to make breakthroughs in cancer metastasis, addiction, allergy, and mental health.

The CDC study contains an example of bird flu transmission to a farm worker in a state where dairy herds have not yet tested positive, illustrating that the US needs to ramp up its surveillance.

Yesterday I realized that people do not understand that the “DEI” purge is a cover to get Black people fired and sidelined from government, university, and civic and corporate life in the US.

This is so clear based on who is being targeted that I hadn’t thought to say it explicitly

Happy #BHM! 🙃

What is an indirect? It’s a complicated name for funding for research infrastructure, which usually isn’t covered by grants. So no research infrastructure funding means research halts. Please share in laymen’s terms what your research does here so people can see what we would lose.

The Trump NIH is banning hires of new students and postdocs. This is devastating for NIH research and will result in a lost generation of researchers at the institution.

Heard from a applicant today: "A lot of people are banking their entire careers on the [NIH student programs]..."

Dear US scientists: we love you all, but don't be that "heartened" by legal action. Musk is saying he will ignore judicial orders. USAID/CFPB actions are blatantly illegal.

We're begging you: read @jamellebouie.net @dahlialithwick.bsky.social and @gregsargent.bsky.social on law and politics. 1/ 🧪
Hearing from more people at affected universities today. One at another major research institute said people there were “frozen with fear” at the potential of the rate cut and relative silence from leadership over the weekend, but heartened by the unified response of the quick lawsuit.

Elon Musk reportedly spent $40M on #Superbowl ads calling #USAID wasteful.

Here's how we would've spent that $$:

Bought 29K tons of produce and vegetable oil from American farmers to feed people, reducing mass migration #saveUSAID #saveforeignaid

Foreign aid is 1% of the US budget and helps millions! Elon Musk is lying to you. Spread the word tonight as he buys $40M in ads at the Super Bowl to try to convince you otherwise. Stop Musk. Help millions.

Don’t just say DEI as if it’s a bad word. Spell it out.

Say diversity, which is the lifeblood of American society & culture & innovation.

Say equity, which a just society should pursue.

Say inclusion, because decent people believe in increasing belonging, not isolating people who are different.

48% of papers published since January 1, 2015 have been removed from PCD website.

Our team pulled all PCD publications from PubMed and checked the DOI to see if the paper still exists on the PCD website. For the 1470 articles from the past 10 years, only 763 are still accessible through PCD (52%).

Feeling helpless? Look for the helpers and then join in!

Mask blocs, Mutual Aid, community fridges, auntie networks…. There are so many ways to help.

Whatever you can give, whether that be time, money or skill… find other people who can help you organize and resist.
The FDA might not take H5N1 seriously but every Mask Bloc is stocking up on N95s.

SNAP might get cut off but Food Not Bombs will still be handing out food each week.

FEMA might get gutted but Mutual Aid Disaster Relief will still be mucking & gutting houses.
