Exposure to toxic PFOS forever chemicals associated with coronary heart disease, study finds. PFOS is globally banned due to health harms but lasts a long time in the environment, leaching from landfill, old airfields & firefighter training grounds.

We now have the absurd spectacle of a prime minister utterly failing to understand we're in the sixth mass extinction and urging more destruction instead.

PFAS forever chemicals are often added to plastics, & plastic containers can absorb PFAS & other chemicals from substances stored in them. New research shows health harms from a combination of PFAS & plastic may be 40% higher than either cause separately. 🧵

Simon, & others at River Mole River Watch, really bring home the reality of decrepit water infrastructure. Last winter, they raised the alarm when Horley Sewage Works' totally insufficient sewage storage overflowed onto a public footpath, near people's homes, bearing 1,078,847 CFU

This plan is so ridiculous I can't believe I'm about to write these words - water companies want to build pipelines to divert sewage away from protected rivers to... other rivers & lakes with fewer legal protections...& they want to raise our bills to pay for it...

🆘 Ashford Borough Council rightly refused plans to discharge sewage into the River Beult ✅ But the developer appealed 😡

Now it’s up to the Environment Agency to ‘protect & improve the environment.’ Will they safeguard this precious SSSI, or let it be damaged forever? 💩💧

Rank.

I will never understand why so many in England just accept that their faeces are coursing through their streams and rivers, all so rich people can make more money.

Seriously, that is one messed up system...

Today, in the mild stillness at dawn, a song thrush sang for the first time in four months. Nowhere near his full-bodied spring best of course, yet still glorious. I’m reminded of just how much I love his voice, his beauty and exuberance.
