As my friend @labyrinthrat.bsky.social noted on Facebook, this would be funnier if it said APA style.
If only my undergraduate self had read this, it could have spared me a lot of turmoil

I thought I knew what the racism in question would be when I started reading. I didn't.

This is a fucking devastating thread on one facet of the impact of racism on students, scholars, professionals, and others.
The racism behind chatGPT we aren't talking about...

This year, I learned that students use chatGPT because they believe it helps them sound more respectable. And I learned that it absolutely does not work. A thread. 🧵

As I work on planning the upcoming Editors Canada conference, I wish all attendees a very "please please remember this advice at the end of a session"
"This is a Q&A. If it is not a Q, sit your A down." (I cannot remember where I first heard this, it was online somewhere. I love it so)

(desperately taking screenshots and writing this down in every attempt to remember this quote when jerks try to debate people's humanity with me on the internet)

Here’s how you can show your solidarity tomorrow (Thursday):

DO NOT click on stories at ChicagoTribune.com

DO NOT engage with Trib social media accounts

DO NOT open and engage with Chicago Tribune emails and news alerts Thursday.

Respect our picket line by not crossing the “click it” line!

Unless this piece is directed explicitly and solely at CEOs - and I'm going to take a wild guess that it is not - I would like to humbly request that the Economist shut the fuck up always and forever.
counterpoint: no the fuck it is not

This is amazing thread of research and resources on how the US simply went from legalized slavery (chattel slavery) to legalized slavery (prison labor).
That's why we can't just "reform" the prison system - we have to burn it down and build something new.
Blockbuster story from AP – prison labor powers the biggest brands in the U.S. food business and fast food chains. Target, Walmart, Aldi, Burger King are involved and many more. Two years of reporting by the Pulitzer-winning team of Robin McDowell and Margie Mason.
Prisoners in the US are part of a hidden workforce linked to hundreds of popular food brands
In a sweeping two-year investigation, The Associated Press found goods linked to prisoners wind up in the supply chains of everything from Frosted Flakes cereal and Ball Park hot dogs to Gold Medal fl...

If 9 people sit willingly at a table with 1 nazi, you've got 10 nazis.
And I get that this is hard to accept because so many great and lovable regular people are Republicans. But if you mention that the place that they’re hanging out, and drinking, and voting, is run by Nazis and they don’t care…Sweetie baby, I got some bad news for you.
The Republican Party is a Nazi bar. Anyone who stays there—from a registered voter to the top of the ticket—is implicated by that. Every policy, every idea, every action, every vote: It’s for the Nazi bar.

It is genuinely destabilizing to get "we can always tell"-ed by a transphobe. I wouldn't mind getting mistaken for a trans woman, but these people are just so confidently, self-assuredly wrong at every turn that it beggars belief.

I have a whole rant about how household tasks that are traditionally coded “women’s work” (laundry, cooking, dishes, keep humans alive) never end while “men’s work” (change this oil! fix this thing!) gives a nice sense of being Done. It’s not perfect by any means but I feel like I’m onto something.

Completely captivated by this utterly unhinged meme - the Voynich manuscript will be cracked before this thing
I am currently trying to figure out why these groups are grouped together like this (i know its probably nonsensical, but we must be able to come up with some sort of group division)
