I decided to remake the confwall for #FFConf. A few weeks ago it seemed like a good idea. 3 days away from the event it seems less like a good idea.
Although, utterly consistant with my process for updating the confwall dating all the way back to 2009… 🤦

HMP Wandsworth gets ‘green light’ to use AI after team sent in to find ‘quick fixes’ after spate of mistakes
Artificial intelligence chatbots could be used to stop prisoners from being mistakenly released from jail, a justice minister told the House of Lords on Monday.
Lord Timpson said HMP Wandsworth had been given the “green light” to use artificial intelligence (AI) after a specialised team was sent in to find “some quick fixes”. Continue reading...

It's been great to reflect on what I've learned through building this community and I'm so excited to get everyone together, for one last time. Keep your eyes peeled for when we launch on Wednesday 👀

This week, we launch the 2026 conference, signalling ten years of All Day Hey! A lot has changed in ten years, and we have a lot to celebrate. We're not holding back on this one.

If you’ve wanted to go to #ffconf but couldn’t afford it, I have a ticket spare going.
Much rather it got used. ( my week’s focus got changed. 😞)
Ping me.

suspect that anyone on the progressive side of politics who put any stock in the utterly hollow concept of BBC political neutrality is about to find out how bad it can get.
You should have listened to trans people.

Right. Friday. #FFConf. Weather check:
- BBC: hosed (but then…BBC reporting 🤷)
- Met office: cold, but not raining
- Accuweather: "2 hours of rain" … I hope
- Today outside window: fucked.
Anyone know the incarnation to shoo away the clouds, now's the time!

Unsurprisingly, this latest talk that's starting with reflection, resonates hard. Partly because Imran's talk from @ffconf.org last year hit hard ffconf.org/talks/2024_i...

Now for the (efficiency) "Vibe Coding for Designers". Generally useful advice to designers, reiterating that it's *not* production ready.
The part that's missing is when a designer generates code, who's responsible, probably the dev.
Equally vice versa.
Prototypes 👍
Commited code 👎

I particularly like how the countries are in alphabetic order by their English names but then the names are displayed in German. Truly superlative work.

The time to announce our first speaker at #SotB26 has come! We already told you about them, but is it who you think it is?
The speaker who enjoys scuba diving and in 2017, became a professional dive leader is…Bramus Van Damme! Bramus will talk to you about the Anchor Positioning API.

Second talk, thankfully much more to my liking and thinking.
I'll share the video when it's out, but comparing and looking back at the arts and craft movement (in response to the industrial revolution) could teach us about the AI revolution.

Watching a talk about economics and UX, and though I've learnt a little, the thing that's constantly niggling at the back of my head is the exploitation of people. Supply and demand, surge pricing, deliveroo-like services. All these benefit someone at the expense of fucking someone else.

Wondering how using AI coding tools impacts how we learn technical skills? Good news:
@rivea0.bsky.social and I are giving a talk about this at @ffconf.org in Brighton on the Nov 14th! There's still a few tickets left if you've been meaning to come along and say hello!

7 years ago today. Not a disimilar situation going on right now.
These were the t-shirts from 2018 (which really doesn't feel that long ago) and the lanyards packed ready for registration.
