Pete Hegseth's views on women serving in combat—and apparently also on our right to vote—are beyond shameful and flat out wrong.

The tens of thousands of women he's commanding are actually qualified and earned their jobs, unlike him.

He's a disgrace to our brave servicemembers.

I used to believe that Republicans believed in principles like FREEDOM and JUSTICE. Clearly those are no longer core values. Rs know that ICE deported an innocent man to a hell-hole prison. All Donald Trump had to do was to say to El Salvador's Nayib Bukele, "Let him go." But he didn't do it.

We called out Harvard in the past for inaction. So now we are happy to speak out with praise.

This is a major step forward.

It’s not just a lack of capitulation. It’s an aggressive effort leaning into public comms — exactly what is needed. Bravo to Harvard 👏
Harvard redid its whole homepage to push back against the administration’s demands. I mean, this is just a website but I think it’s kind of a great PR move: www.harvard.edu

While Trump and Elon Musk take a chainsaw to vital services and rip away resources that millions of Americans rely on—

Musk himself is lining his pockets with new government contracts left and right.

Republicans' response? A budget that encourages this corrupt agenda.

Based on Trump's destruction of the FDA, it looks like a good time to disinvest from pharmaceutical company stocks.

Most of the World is going to be boycotting American products, tariffs or no tariffs. We're careening toward a Depression. Why hasn't Wall Street figured it out?

It appears that the overarching UM grant for the Utah Clinical and Translational Science Awards was terminated. It is no longer in NIH Reporter.

Here is the abstract. Too much focus on health equity, health disparities, and underserved populations...

Another obscenity...

Can someone explain to me why we're not headed to recession with an international boycott of American products, personal uncertainty related to Medicaid/Medicare, and worries about Social Security? Zero international sales, farm income slammed, consumer confidence in the toilet?

I just turned on the joint press conference between Trump and the Irish PM in time to hear the President say:

"Chuck Schumer is now a Palestinian. He used to be Jewish, now he's a Palestinian."

I have nothing to say about this. I just wanted to tell you.

Based on how Trump treated Zelensky, any bets we see an organized international boycott of American goods? Not just Teslas

So true and sad
At least 15 American universities now have hiring freezes and 33 have cut PhD admissions this year. We are going to lose an entire generation of scientists and will fall farther behind in new research, technology breakthroughs and innovations.

I fail to see how this will make America great again.

This helps to understand what's going on with the REUs (Research Experience for Undergraduates):

On Feb 13, NSF said: "Although we [had earlier] sent many of you emails expressing our plans to recommend for funding...We deeply regret that we are not going to be able to hold to all of those plans."

I am hearing from sources and friends that the policy of not renewing essentially anyone on a fixed-term contract in the NIH intramural program is having and will continue to have devastating effects.

The basic support and administrative functions are disappearing.

Any act of wanton destruction...

STEM jobs are being destroyed. Please talk to your local TV and newspapers about this, tell your stories.
Mine is graduating this Spring. She works in a campus lab doing bio research on cancer. Not a single graduating undergrad has a job in the field. One was desperate to get a sales job - he'll be selling surfboards. 🙄
That's where we are now. But maga is happy to "trim the fat".

I personally know of several who have been let go; none of which for poor performance, all of them related to being chosen for promotions or conversions with mandatory probation periods. They were identified as high-performing employees and punished as a result. Many serving 10+ years. Senseless.

Some of the positions of folks at NIH who were terminated (mostly by virtue of timing)

At least 1 institute deputy director
At least 1 institute director of extramural activities
At least 1 program officer (and I am sure many more)
At least 1 SRO (and I am sure many more)

We see your service and your good work. We will do whatever we can to fight. Take care of yourself and then when you’re ready, jump back in the fray. 💕
