The trick for getting people out of cults is ALWAYS to reaffirm their humanity and intrinsic worth. Because cult mind control operates by isolating their cultists from any kind of support outside of the cult.
It was this and Epstein that broke the dam for a lot of local MAGAs. I just said, "Hey, you're gun people. Does this make any kind of sense? You're not stupid, you know how this shit works, don't act like you're stupid just for him" And that has been very effective.

Something that keeps coming up whenever I watch a black person react to Blazing Saddles. When the old woman gives Bart an apple pie, everyone says "don't eat that". Is there a history of black people being poisoned with food gifts? It seems like there might be, but I have no knowledge of this.

How does anyone think the Nazis were anything but comically stupid? There is NO WAY US, UK and Canadians could have gotten up to SO MUCH ridiculous nonsense in WW2 otherwise.

I've noticed a trend with streaming shows lately. They'll have absolutely STACKED casts of fantastic performers, insane levels of CGI, great visuals, lots of action, but the writing makes Dan Schneider look like an artistic genius.

The danger from COVID now is not that you'll die in the acute stages. Vaccines have very effectively dealt with that. The danger now is that you'll contract it, and maybe not even realize you have it, but it'll do permanent damage to your body and brain in the meantime.

The thing about "medical misogyny" is that most often it's not intentional. No provider intends to give women substandard care. It's just that basically all the literature centers men as subjects, and women's bodies work somewhat differently.
I wonder how much of it comes down to how hard it can be to see things in abdominal scans. When my oldest was born there had been so much imagery taken only the fates know, but it actually took doing the C-Section before they found a grapefruit sized cyst on my wife's ovary.

I imagine for a 14 year old, having a place to go where she doesn't have to put on any kind of "performance" for the adults, where she can just be herself and not worry about what anyone thinks, must be cathartic.

It's been an ongoing joke about how one of teen's friends tends to fall asleep nearly as soon as she gets to our house for the night. I'm starting to realize it's because she has a somewhat tumultuous home life, and being here, despite our MANY problems, she feels safe here. So she can relax.

Marija Gimbutas was actually mostly right with her predictions. She was a second wave feminist, which did color her interpretations and led to her biggest mistakes, but also given the nascent state of the field at the time, having been like 90% correct is still fucking impressive.
Hey hey hey, some of us happen to LOVE nonfiction. If a nonfiction author turns out to be a giant piece of shit we can just say, "well, he sucks, but he was as far as we know correct about this and this, but clearly not that"
