Not worse than the Canadians who think they could even meaningfully resist the U.S. military in open warfare. U.S. vs planet earth is a coin flip, idk why they think U.S. vs The U.S.s Hat would go better
God save me from Euros who don't know the composition of European forces telling me that Europe could meaningfully fight the US.

After decades of treating it like a sleeping bear you mustn't dare poke when they could have had Russia tied into knots or balkanized by force before most people on this app were out of primary school
A bloc of 750 million people that constitutes one of the world's largest economies is freaking the fuck out because one of their neighbors made modest military gains in one of the poorest and most corrupt nations in the region at great cost after three years.

When cats rub on each other it leaves a scent, so they are probably gathering immense amounts of social data each time they smell each other. Like seeing who the last five people the person you're texting interacted with. Presumably in order, too, judging by strength of scent

I have achieved a level of "holed up" I never imagined. I'm holed up maxing. It's time to claim victory and move on to another project, but I know, deep inside, I can eliminate one or two more of the things that force me to occasionally leave the house.

Man I just love systems that automatically self-select for the worst possible outcome for everybody involved. Especially when they are metaphorically linked to sacrificing your children to powers beyond your control in exchange for material rewards. Really can't get enough of that

Our future at the moment seems like a disastrously preterm baby that needs to be carefully and very intentionally incubated back to health via tubers and wires. That is to say, fucked unless we work hard on keeping it alive

Just learned about liquid democracy where you can delegate your vote to someone else. Seems like it could be pretty powerful if combined with issue-based voting. e.g. I delegate my vote to x economist for the economy and y environmentalist for the environment but I'll vote on labor issues myself.

Techright will say "oh profit motive ensures that private market solutions will create the best possible service/product for the people!" Then also talk about how AI will kill us all via goal maximization and not see the dissonance there. Sad!

It's hard to envision an ideal morphology but I know it needs to be a combination of cellular and solid. The benefits of nanoswarm systems can't be overstated but sometimes you really do just need a quarter inch rod of solid steel instead of a bunch of interlinked bots
