My copy of my friend @religionprof.bsky.social’s new book, Christmaker: A Life of John the Baptist, finally arrived! Also can’t wait for his larger scholarly volume, John of History, Baptist of Faith: The Quest for the Historical Baptizer. Happily, this one will tide me over until the tome drops!

Dig two graves!
Powerful stuff
"Toddlers go up in flames, and the Israeli public celebrates, erases, chatters or yawns – that's what our hell looks like. When you embark on a campaign of vengeance, as the saying goes, dig two graves"

What a beauty.
The Tube staircase. Cyril Power, 1929.
Cyril Power regarded London’s Underground Railway as one of the most potent symbols of the new industrial age. He depicted various aspects of it in his linocuts.
This print recalls the staircase at Russell Square station.

Guess what we observe in Egypt over the last fifty years: organized/intentional agnosis. It does work.
A couple of months ago Prof Elizabeth Stanley gave a great inaugural lecture on the organised ignorance-making, or agnosis, by the NZ state that the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care exposed. Prof Stanley's open access paper provides more detail:
