Probably because if you sacked everyone in Starmer's inner circle who was being abusive about Diane Abbot circa 2017, there wouldn't be many of them left
Whatever you think of these messages, the reality is this story and Paul Ovenden's subsequent resignation has provoked pure fury from long-serving Labour aides. Many saying they do not believe Starmer should have accepted his resignation.

The problem with this analysis is that it relies on Jake Berry having the right political instincts, and, well
So, I both wholly agree and wholly disagree with Jox's view here, in that Jake Berry, while mediocre, is essentially at prime age and rank to be a retread in the 2029 intake, and that he is leaving says something about what his ilk view as the better bet.

At risk of tapping the sign again: As with grooming gangs, a "proper enquiry" is one where the conclusions have already been drawn before any evidence is gathered. Funnily enough those conclusions align exactly with what the person proposing the "proper enquiry" already thought
Reform attacking the public inquiry - with no basis - to 'commission a proper COVD enquiry' seems part of a general attempt to corrode trust in every process/institution

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is one of the surprisingly large number of Christmas songs in which Father Christmas is depicted as one or all of the following: a bad employer, a terrible husband, an actively menacing presence.
from the edits of today's newsletter I have learned that I have been living in ignorance about the name of the red-nosed reindeer for decades

Parachuting someone who was recently rejected by the electorate into a top role is exactly the kind of undemocratic, contemptuous move we (rightly) criticised the Tories for. You can't be a government of service if you ignore the public's view on who should serve.

So what the Treasury analysis tells us is that the non-dom policy is win-win. Either we raise a boatload of money or the asset-strippers who have helped make the country virtually unliveable for most of us will leave. Starmer and Reeves should proceed at pace.
