The importer, Rad Power Bikes Inc., of Seattle, Washington has refused to agree to an acceptable recall. Given its financial situation, Rad Power Bikes has indicated to CPSC that it is unable to offer replacement batteries or refunds to all consumers.

Possibly two years ago (or one? Who can say) my mom asked what she should get me for Christmas, and I said this giant tube of Burt's Bees filled with 52 Burt's Bees.

One of the best decisions I have ever made. Living in LUXURY. Can't find my Burt? Grab another

Imagine thinking that grant peer review is currently fair. Like, imagine that being your mind. Wild.

Every time a university gives an endowed professorship (in the memory of a dead child) to a known abusive asshole (like seriously just ask ANYONE), several recent grads become more emboldened in their distaste for academia

Don't even have my diploma yet but I have gotten two review requests this week and it is Wednesday. They aren't even that related to my PhD work. I think this is just my life now.

Me last night: oh, it's 11:30, I should watch something to get ready to go to sleep

*Puts on Werner Herzog's documentary about capital punishment INTO THE ABYSS*

I liked it, though.

The people will come for me, but I think I prefer The White Stripes version of Jolene 😬
Hot take: Most covers of songs are not good.

Some covers are better than the originals, but this is rare.

What are your fave covers that are better than the originals?

Also the story of electric cars?
In retrospect, perhaps everyone should have recognized they were evil when Altria made it clear they liked the idea

I would like to give a giant "what the fuck is wrong with you?" to whoever is in charge of the renovations and signage at Five Points station.

Scientific breakthroughs are rarely unique; someone else would’ve made them soon enough. But when prominent scientists cause harm, that harm isn’t inevitable; the world might simply have been better had the harm not been inflicted.

Will I get trapped in Philadelphia? Only time will tell
Yeah so they’re cutting flights at the 40 busiest airports starting with 4% on Friday and ramping up to 10% through the weekend, and that includes ATL. If you’re attending #KubeCon and you aren’t threat modeling around this and making contingency plans already, strongly recommend starting now
So, uh, KubeCon attendees: how we feeling about the threat model of them shutting down the airspace? Are we all moving to Atlanta

My go-to college meal:
Saute chicken, onions, garlic, and bell pepper in olive oil. Add smoked paprika. Have that with hummus (I added a lil pool of lemon juice and olive oil) and pita. Can add a lil salad. Bam.

This is such an interesting contrast to the NIH F31/NRSA, which recently stopped requiring/allowing grades. grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

And then while the GRFP stopped allowing 2nd yrs to apply, F31s are usually applied for in 2nd yr and resubmitted in 3rd year (at least here).
