Honest to goodness, this was my argument when I campaigned for John Kerry in 2004 - if there was no accountability for Bush Jr et al's conduct of the Iraq war, it would dangerously degrade the moral foundations of our country and put us in danger. And here we are.
I do not know what comes after Trump in the GOP. But I do know that if those who gleefully committed crimes and tried to destroy democracy at his behest are not fully held accountable, whatever comes after will be somehow worse.
