Was trying to post this all yesterday evening but it wouldn't upload. Agatha's first attempt at making bread; I'm sure we can all agree she's doing a super job

Oh, the kitten can get on the dining table now. Oh good 🫠

I know you're not meant to judge, but I saw her running laps round the lounge earlier so I don't think she really needs that wheelchair 😅

Book 44 of 2025

Vera Wong's Guide to Snooping (On a Dead Man) by Jesse Sutanto
Started: 09/11/25
Finished: 16/11/25
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5

I absolutely love Vera & was so glad when the author wrote a sequel as the 1st book was meant to be standalone. This was everything I'd hoped for, I hope there's more!

Just a smol creature warming her beans before the fire and plotting her next acts of chaos and destruction

Due to who I am as a person I am very early but at least the getting here went smoothly!

On annual leave today so spent a few hours finishing off the bulb table and a few other pots ready for next spring 🌱 I've run out of bulbs now so I need a trip to the garden centre! Also the winter garlic is starting to show signs of life which is a bit exciting (if you're me, anyway 😆)

I went for a wheelchair and a comically large umbrella

Book 43 of 2025

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Started: 14/10/25
Finished: 08/11/25
⭐⭐⭐ 3.5/5

I enjoyed the detail that went into it in the beginning, but as the plot picked up pace it felt like it lost that richness and by the end it felt rushed & I had a lot of unanswered questions.

I may have learned a few lessons this afternoon about perhaps next time wearing latex gloves when refilling my fountain pen

Nearly forgot to post this - the local Red Cross shop not pulling any punches 😆

Began emptying the pots of last year's spring bulbs ready for the new ones to go in over the next few weeks. All of last year's have gone in the border where they may or may not be successful. Other than the tulips and crocus I couldn't identify them so it'll be a surprise come spring! 🌱

Would anybody like any eggs? I meant to order six eggs and ordered six boxes 😂

I had a go at bulk fermenting my bread in the fridge overnight for the first time and it's worked! I was a bit worried about it all going to shit but it tastes amazing. Very weird handling/shaping cold dough though, it doesn't feel right at all!

Me: I'm going to spray the weeds with horticultural vinegar so you might want to put a mask on as it's quite strong

Wife: OK *bumbles off and gets a mask*

*less than five minutes later*

Wife: Why can I smell vinegar!?!

Me: WHAT DID I JUST SAY 😆

Charlie's bed has been conquered. (Fortunately he wasn't in it, although I don't think it would have stopped her if he was!)
October 19, 2025 at 8:23 PM
First day back at work today & I was a bit worried about how much I'd get done with a kitten in my office. However, once I'd released Charlie from her headlock & explained that this isn't how we Make Friends And Influence People, she played contentedly next to my desk & then fell asleep after lunch.

Book 42 of 2025

Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree
Started: 02/10/25
Finished: 13/10/25
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5

I loved this book - cosy fantasy romance, which wouldn't normally be my thing but just *worked*. If I didn't have a kitten constantly distracting me I'd have devoured it in about four days!

My wife requested a Victoria sponge for her birthday and although I don't really do cakes I gave it a go and I'm pretty happy with the result!

Post you from a different era.

(Really is a different era; I am much happier these days than I was ten years ago but I do miss having a vaguely cooperative body!)

Spent the morning at the archery range in the next village today. At least 10 years since my last attempt and the first time doing it from a wheelchair but I'm happy to say it's a very wheelchair accessible experience! Think we'll be back as it's so local and my wife is hooked.
