Measles is not trending on Bluesky. But it's quickly spreading in the US. Likely way more cases than the 600+ the CDC reported last Friday. Why do I think that? Well, measles kills on average 1 per 1000. We've seen 3 deaths. It is highly likely that we're undercounting this tightly knit community.

USAID.gov is down. Why is this concerning? Trump has no legal authority to eliminate a congressionally funded independent agency. The work of USAID is vital, and if this can happen to them, it can happen to any of us.

My understanding is the spending freeze has been rescinded but not the EO on DEIA so a lot of research grants will still be targeted? The confusion is the point at this point.

It’s recruitment season for my phd program and I am intentionally not participating because you aren’t going to create a horrible environment for students of color and THEN trot us out like lil show ponies. #BlackSky #AcademicSky
