I'm confused. From PHWINS data we know that the mass majority of people drawn to public health come to the field because of our ties to social justice. Yet, our schools are canceling their social justice and health equity certifications.

I'm reading a student's final on maternal health outcomes in Mississippi, and I really want to put up billboards across the state telling people that they don't have to live like that. Move to a blue state. Get access to health & social services your state is depriving you of so you can live.

We have a 3-tiered public health system with built in redundancy, because if one tier fails (in this case, the federal level), the other two can step in to protect the health of our people. Good job state and local health departments for stepping in to keep people healthy.
Our state HD sent our local environmental inspectors into all of our county stores to physically pull it off the shelves because a week into the recall, it was still being sold at CVS and Wal-Mart.

My son gets hand-me-down clothing from Trustee Brian Straw and his wife. The very same elected official that was indicted by the Feds for protesting. He was one of five elected people or candidates to be indicted yesterday. The Feds going after local officials. We must save our democracy

Last week ICE pulled guns outside of my 7 y.o school. Today, it was outside of my 10 y.o's school.

Trumps policies will limit the number of foreign-born doctors coming to our country, while also limiting the number of American born people who can afford to go to med school, and limiting the amount of money med schools can make by cutting research dollars and limiting international students. In 2012, my mom retired from being an early childcare teacher finally earning her goal salary, $25k. I remember my college costing $2,000 more a year than her annual salary.

The federal gov wants people to have more babies- but fired the entire Healthy Start team. Their job was to ensure Americans have healthy pregnancies and infants have a healthy start to life. Their work is needed considering we rank 33rd out of 38 among high-income countries for infant mortality

I'm teaching today about our role in ensuring an effective and responsive public health system, and I'm overwhelmed because the system we worked so hard to build no longer exists. It's been decimated by this administration and our citizenry doesn't know what that means.

My neighbor, an American citizen, was detained by ICE yesterday. Guns in his face as he listened to their threats to break his car windows to pull him out.

After 4 tries, my children still do not have their COVID vaccines. This search for vaccines... it's starting to feel like 2021 all over again. In the richest country in the world, it shouldn't be this hard to get vaccinated.

Just in case you thought we were finish with measles because you haven't heard about it in a while, I'm just here to remind you that measles case continuing to rise. There are 1514 confirmed cases for 2025 so far. This is about 5.5 times more than the cases in 2024, and 26 times more than 2023.

I like to use my social media to help break down complex medical studies to help people better understand the science and subsequent recommendations, but today I will just say, if the person sharing a medical recommendation with you can't pronounce the words, DON"T TRUST THEIR INFORMATION!
