Even Will Stancil gets it.
this site is diseasing all of your brains. it's not healthy to live in an echo chamber full of people who know very little but agree with all your unexamined cultural assumptions. this is not a normal reaction to the trivial observation that teachers are middle-class professionals

The replies to this and the post Yglesias quoted are… nevermind I’m out.
I don’t post here that much because on its good days it’s a left-wing echo chamber and on bad days it’s a bunch of death threats.
Bluesky needs more ideological diversity, a thread:

1/8: I think the question of why commentators like Matt Yglesias, Lakshya Jain, Noah Smith, Nate Silver and Richard Hanania don’t post more, or at all on Bluesky is important.

This would be a better platform if they did.

These CEOs are idiots.

Explore AI. Use it. Get excited about it, I guess.

But the messaging from these clueless goons shows how disconnected they are from reality and how long it’s been since they created anything remotely meaningful.

CEOs Are Telling Their Employees to Embrace AI–or Become Irrelevant
Shopify’s Toby Lütke and Fiverr’s Micha Kaufman told their workforces that understanding AI tools is more critical to their careers, and survival, than ever before.

You know what, kill the corner 3. Why not. I don’t care about offensive efficiency. I care about entertainment. Aaron Nesmith nervously waiting to chuck a shot isn’t entertaining.

Ending corner 3 might make things worse. I don’t care. Let’s try stuff.

Recently, a friend alerted me to the IG trend of “ai generated sexy girls with Down’s syndrome” and basically we need to launch Zuckerberg into the sun.
It’s insane how dogshit Instagram is now. It’s just an endless stream of Facebook-tier slop.

Fuck you Zuckerberg I want to see my friend’s stories. Not an infinite timeline of gooner shit and AI slop. Why does everything have to be dogshit now.

The awfulness of Eric Clapton.
Ok, you’re holding the Senate Floor and have run through your speech. What’s a topic you could speak about for hours without notes?

Yep. Silicon Valley did not invent the internet. But they seem to take credit for it as a reason to keep trusting them on each new “life-changing” technology. An increasingly leveraged house of cards. Built on an active volcano. Next to a nuclear plant.
"In SSI’s October 2024 funding round, it scored $1 billion — which was 20% of all first-round venture funding in 2024." -- how is this a healthy start-up ecosystem? Silicon Valley is basically a fringe religion now.
Let it be known that I too will accept $2 billion in funding on the promise that I will not release anything until I have created God.

Scammers are doing a better job of monetizing AI than the AI industry.

Also, this is gross.

America’s primary contributions to the world are humorless tv shows and shitty subscription software. We have lost the capacity to deeply care about anything, and so we’ve fallen into disrepair. There are still people alive who remember caring about American ideals, but few remain. We’ve failed.
This letter appeared in the Bloomsburg PA Press Enterprise this morning. I am assured the writer is who he purports to be, an Air Force veteran.

But also, if you are thirsty, use your Thirsti.

You want food crispy, use a Crispi.

Frozen but creamy? Creami.

More icy than creamy? Slushi.

Slushi but not necessarily frozen? Blast. Wait, Blast?

Want coffee? Dual Brew XL97R Pod o Matic BRT9

And then there’s like 37 things called Foodi.
Went to the Ninja site to remind myself how stupid their product naming is. 4 pages, 4 different marketing popups. Shit should be illegal.

We should rewrite 230. The idea it cannot be touched is propaganda from big tech lobbyists. It’s outdated and overreaching in modern application.

But simply repealing and leaving no protections of any kind to replace it, would be reckless.
It’s time to repeal Section 230. We must be able to take social media companies to court for addicting kids and enabling drug trafficking on their platforms.
Sen. DURBIN: Fentanyl often gets to our kids and young people through the internet.

Section 230 absolves social media companies from any responsibility. “That has got to end.”

Google Store is publishing terrible health/wellness articles and it's driving a ton of traffic, outperforming publishers that offer much better advice. So I took a closer look.

I know this is angling at a conspiracy/bias. But the real answer is we’ve traded reliability for cost.

There’s been 15+ jeep ev fires. 25+ for kia. Etc etc. and millions of vehicles recalled. As a % of fleet, Tesla EVs are safer than what most others are putting on the road.
Simple question…👇

Why?!

Imagine seeing hundreds of articles along the lines of “10 Common Marriott Scams and How to Avoid Them”?!

Airbnb announced they were cracking down on committing fraud in 2017 and again in 2023. With tons of “safety guides” released in between.

Yet it continues.
If you follow consumer complaints about companies like Tito, AirBnB, Uber, etc… sadly not that wild of a story.

So many of these companies are a joke, violate real (existing) laws just by operating, and should be fined out of existence.
basedfob.substack.com/p/big-tech-h... is a long post with a WILD story, but... kinda worth it.

Sorry, councilman Matt. The people of this app who only step outside their homes to get their no-contact postmates order have said you’re wrong. It’s actually that the median voter is pro-genocide.
I knocked a lot of doors last election. I always noted that the main reason I was out there was that Trump had shown that if he gained power again he would attempt to become an authoritarian dictator. Undecided voters mostly wanted to talk about the grocery prices instead. This was real life.
Over the past few months I knocked the doors of many people who weren't pre-disposed to vote Harris from both the left and the right. They'd tell me all sorts of things, like that Biden/Harris were just as bad as Trump and would create their own J6 style riot if they lost.
