Drunk Fiction is a delight and I'm pumped for the November 25 event at The Caledonian, where I'll join literary luminaries Russell Smith, Danila Botha, and Andrew Daley for some chilly-eve reads. Kudos to Emily Weedon, Matron of the Macabre, for creating and hosting this fab monthly reading series.

Yesterday was colour check day for a little side project of mine. I'm publishing a chapbook of a sort-of-old short story to use as a test run for a micropublishing project I'm looking at starting up. This will be available when I read at November's Drunk Fiction event in Toronto.

It was a process for me. Started at age 17 in 1985 (came out to my prom date: easy) and ended at age 21 in 1988 (came out to my parents: difficult). I'm now 58.
Came out at 17 (in high school in Winnipeg in 1979, not recommended); now 63 years old.
Queer BlueSky: how old were you when you came out and how old are you now?

Came out as gay for a dry run in 9th grade and then fully in 10th grade. Totally out as a junior and senior. Danced with a guy at my prom (who decided at prom to come out?!). Came out as ace in late 30s.

I’m 42 now.

Post you from a different era. (SGK, your photo reminds me of someone I used to know when I was an undergrad in the 80s.)

I worked on two of these lovely books ("The Upending of Wendall Forbes" and "Product of Italy, Made in Canada") and will definitely grab the Brit Griffin title. If you're looking for great small press books to read this fall, this little stack from @latitude46pub.bsky.social won't steer you wrong.

Apply that construction rate to the Ontario Line and we'd be looking at an opening date of September 1, 2290 (or thereabouts) for that one.

I wrote a piece for The Guardian about the spike in political violence. The question: When do we start calling this what it is?

Got an acceptance on an essay submission yesterday — sure, it was solicited for a collection, but a solicit doesn't mean automatic acceptance, so that's a win.

Symbols aren’t hollow tokens - they have meaning. I can’t imagine living in a world where I don’t have to think about my safety every time I leave the house. This video shows the power of symbols dismissed as ‘DEI’.
For noen kan et lite regnbueflagg bety at vi føler oss tryggere. Man ser flagget og tenker; « her kan jeg passe inn»
En enkel måte å vite at jeg også blir satt pris på.

Veldig fin video
