Working on a couple embroidered patches. Playing around with it and just having fun.

I plan to use interfacing to strengthen them when they are done and then use a sewing machine to stabilize the edges. I'll probably use heat'n'bond ultra hold to make them iron-ons
Embroidered patch part way done. It's an homage to a video game character called Esquie. His manilla colored round face is framed in cheerful muted oranges. He has a cute little mouth is between his white button eyes with black thread. He has the Expedition 33 sash jauntily across his forehead. The embroidery is on a bit of upcycled grey fabric (from a pair of old shorts). Pen sketch marks give a vague idea of what parts need to be finished. Finished sewing a patch over an old logo today. It's my first attempt at a sashiko pattern, so lots of mistakes. I still think it's fun and nothing needs to be perfect!
Block printed patch was picked up from local artist @bramblebug.bsky.social in 2023.

Spending my afternoon putting together mini sewing kit cards to give away

Finished filling in the hole of the favorite grey sweater.
Also pictured is another example. I did a mushroom to cover up a small snag.
Making designs using swiss darning is a fun way to do it but it requires some planning. I suggest trying a 2 color geometric design or even stripes to start.

Practicing swiss darning by mending someone's much loved knit sweater. Managed to stabilize the tear to prevent it getting worse. Next step is to fill in the stitches.

Visible mending on my favorite jeans: fixing that terrible hole that my phone always rips through pockets
A lightwash pair of jeans, with a persimmon flower sashiko pattern on wash-away transfer paper stuck on the back pocket. Two horizontal rows are completed, in red. The same pocket, transfer paper still visible but now with the stitching complete! The horizontal stitches are in rainbow order (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) and the vertical stitches are in a rainbow thread that makes every stitch a different color. The pants... Done! The transfer paper has been washed away and the stitches are bright against the denim. The hole is visible, though small; it has dark blue fabric behind it (and an additional large canvas patch behind that, though you can't see it).

This was my first try doing visible mending of any kind. I had a small hole in my hoodie and used a little EPP orange hexie flower to patch it up. I now want to cover my hoodie in tons of them. 😅🙈
