LRP: as much as my right off the top of the dome reaction,

other than that there must be some good dos editor you could run on top of that but maybe that's outside your retrocomputing pastime params,

is that whatever cry-laughing I was talking about is from those who make their own (mis)fortune,

My brain has the most bizarre thoughts when I'm brushing my teeth, like: Does the human cannonball have a sabot of some kind to deal with the friction of the launch, or is the costume expected to deal with that?

After hours—and more than 140 back-and-forth messages—Long got Claudius to embrace its communist roots.” www.wsj.com/tech/ai/anth...

LRP: I can't really wrap my head around the idea of what people today will think is wild; like, we live in the future where they ship cables that have transceivers in the connectors so devices can leave them out, and these things that are just pretty straightforward breakout cables are wild?

- purchased by private equity firm
- hid a bunch of layoffs
- invested a bunch of money in AI
- tried to make that money back by ruining the best product it now owned

Love the idea underneath "we have to earn their trust" that X is just some regular ol' company with a banal history. Journalists know who owns it! They know how it was bought to make it a propaganda vehicle! All of that is still true, nobody with a good brain will "trust" your shithole Nazi forum.
Elon's little serfs are quite literally begging journalists to come back because every publicly available source of data shows people have fled the platform and young people won't use it.

They are literally begging regular people to come back. Don't do it! It is a website by and for actual Nazis!

LRP: this feels like more than just yet another purposeful generational mischaracterization; we're reaching "we're not sure what hank hill did for a living" territory, where yellow journalism with apologist tendencies reveals that it is really another kind of undertaking...

This NYT story failed the reader by not digging deeper. One subject dropped out of college after one year (five years ago) and lists "Windows" as his skillset. Story should be: young conservatives who blame immigrants for their personal failures and whose lives won't be improved w/ fewer immigrants

Now, before everybody panics and runs around like headless chickens, they have yet to introduce the bill, and Graham and Whitehouse have tried to pass this before and failed. The previous versions have never made it past the introduction stage.
Sen. WHITEHOUSE: We finally are moving to file a bipartisan Section 230 repeal bill. Waiting any longer serves no useful purpose.

but my ask of you is to look at what protections the rest of the world have adopted in place of the blanket s230, and if you're talking to your legislators about this, point out that in order to repeal s230 they'd need to adopt those other measures too, and does the proposal do that, etc.

and to be clear, as has emerged from the comments, there's been no indication this "bipartisan" bill is actually going to include any of those notice-and-takedown provisions or other checks and balances. obviously, if it snaps straight to strict liability, that would be an authoritarian disaster.
