This drives me nuts. It's why I don't bother with new hardware if I can, I buy 2-5years old Dell laptops and workstations off work and those are 100% more reliable than anything you'd buy now. Now... Just have to be careful with updates... Linux is a must for this, I'm so glad it exists
i *HATE* planned obsolescence so much as someone who lost interest in tech updates 10 years ago. my 2015 macbook pro is doing fine but slowly the software is becoming incompatible 😒
