Watching with helplessness and frustration as India recklessly squanders away it's water (and other natural) resources chasing imaginary GDP growth numbers, a failed economic policy, mindless consumerism and a severe identity crisis manifesting itself as mass delusion. 😒😒😒

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

A good rule of thumb based on UNFCCC principles: A rich, historical emitter like the UK cannot legitimately claim to be "1.5°C-aligned” unless it is currently at net negative emissions and has contributed its fair share of climate finance and technology transfer to Global South countries

Was rewatching The Good Wife (American Courtroom drama series) and it struck me just how much propaganda there is on the show wrt Israel especially. Casual mentioning of the IDF, the characters openly taking pro Israel stances like its the most obv thing in the world. Gosh, what garbage, honestly!

Deforestation in Colombia increased in 2024 after two years of decline, just as the environment ministry had warned since April last year.

Experts fear that the increase will continue in 2025 and that armed groups will continue to hinder the progress of conservation strategies with communities.
Armed groups, cattle ranchers drove 35% rise in Colombia’s deforestation in 2024
The prediction came true: deforestation in Colombia increased in 2024 after two years of decline, just as the environment ministry had warned since April last year. The ministry announced that…

As all that value in the stock market goes *poof* over an early report on Chinese AI, i want you to remember something.

STOCK 👏 MARKET 👏 VALUES 👏 ARE 👏 NOT 👏 REAL 👏 We made them up, its a farce whose whole purpose is to create artifical value.

Back in Navi Mumbai. Air is persistently Polluted, hot (It's January for crying out loud!), construction everywhere, roads dug up, toooooo many cars, noise is beyond the recommended levels, just absolutely unlivable - like everywhere else in India.

Big Banks are fueling the climate crisis. Citigroup, Bank of America, & Goldman Sachs just ditched global climate commitments while pouring billions into fossil fuels—destroying the Amazon & Indigenous lands.

Demand they divest NOW! #StopTheMoneyPipeline

I am firmly opposed to AI tech (no matter how efficient). But Deepseek wiping out $ 1 Trillion from US markets is just too good to not enjoy. 😂😂 And the more I read about how the Chinese got this done, the funnier it gets 😂😂

The irritating part is that the solutions are already there. We already know what we have to do. It's sheer ignorance and arrogance of the people and the ruling elite that is at this point fueling the climate crisis. It is not about lack of solutions, it is about lack of political will.

Is anyone going through a constant feeling of dread wrt the climate crisis? I am from India and the entire country is critically polluted. The air, water, soil - everything is poisoned. And then there's a fascist take over of the country's politics. Battling anxiety has become an everyday fight...

Me talking about the climate crisis and how everywhere you go in India, you find only filth and critical levels of pollution.
Boomer Dad: (Unaware of the crisis and Extremely unwilling to listen to anything) You should learn to enjoy life and not take everything so seriously.

I’m in a couple of these subs and people are *overwhelmingly* in favor of the bans.
There is a growing movement among Reddit subs to ban links to X / Twitter.

I fully support this.
