Long term Garbage fan. When not developing stuff at DNEG, I read, sleep, go to gigs and wander in random directions.
Won’t really miss Disney being involved in Doctor Who. I’m glad it can continue without them in the manner that it did before and it will likely be better as a result. Sure the budget may be smaller again but that’s not a bad thing, and good work was done before… www.doctorwho.tv/news-and-fea...

It’s times like today where I’m thankful we use a on-premises, private cloud architecture and not public cloud.

“The unauthorized party also gained access to a small number of government‑ID images (e.g., driver’s license, passport) from users who had appealed an age determination”.

And yet the UK government and Ofcom wonder why we keep pointing out the major issue with the Online Safety Act….

I wish our government would stop trying to dismantle all sense of privacy in the UK. The OSA was bad enough but trying to force back doors to break encryption of our personal data is just insane. They likely won’t stop there either.

I’m so glad that Trump is using his congressional authorization to increase tariffs on the Lord of the Ring films & Rings of Power show. For too long our national security has been threatened by Middle Earth being set in New Zealand & UK. It should be set in the Mojave Desert, as Tolkien intended.
Sure you are, pet.

The bumbling idiot strikes again… here’s hoping this never gets anywhere and doesn’t do too much damage. When is he going to leave office and let the sane people work again?

This is a small update but a good one: on tvOS 26 it appears that BBC iPlayer finally has subtitle support… not sure who fixed this but that’s long been overdue.

I *cannot* fucking stress this enough:

The threat of AI is *NOT* making movies for us, but the hundreds of jobs it will be able to easily eliminate from crew positions. VFX. Drone pilots. Color timing. Sound mixing. Clerical staff.

If we don't move to protect jobs NOW, they WILL go away forever.

Btw if you’ve been watching Destination X on the Beeb all of the destinations were displayed in order in the opening minutes of the first part. Just check the departure board in the airport…

This… this badly thought out Online Safety Act in the UK is going to cause so many data breaches. It’s not worth the risk. Ofcom’s site tries to compare it with showing ID physically in a shop, except the shop doesn’t photocopy your proof and then leave it on a shelf for anyone to potentially steal.
Just in case anyone wants to DM me, don’t. I’m not going to risk my private data by sending it to @bsky.app. I’d advise everyone else in the U.K. to do the same.

Use a VPN, and you should be able to access BlueSky without having to verify and risk your privacy.

When/if Doctor Who ever returns can we please ditch Murray Gold? I’m sick of him over-embellishing the theme each time with more frills and also drowning out dialogue in introspective scenes with his over the top bombastic score. Less is more.

In another timeline I’d be bouncing around Boston for a summit today. Alas other plans got in the way… so head down and carry on poking the OpenShift clusters and hope for next year… The world of CNCF tooling hurtles along at such a terrifying speed that I’m running to keep up.
