Lots of talk around #Bendigo that La Trobe University have hung Bendigo Council and the beautiful regional city of Bendigo out to dry, while supplying pithy statements to the media and not doing interviews, leaving it to council employees to cop front up and cop it.
A tough gig for Julie!

We could have had Kamala Harris. Instead, we have the most immature, petulant, stupid, needy, incompetent dipshit to ever enter American politics.

What a tragically stupid country we are.

1. The difference so far (and for god's sake let's keep it that way) between X and Bluesky is not between right and left but between abuse and respect.
A good society is built on mutual respect. But what does this mean?
A short thread.🧵

AOC comes out swinging against a Nancy Mace for targeting Sarah McBride.

"They're doing this so that Nancy Mace can ... fundraise off an email. They're not doing this to protect people. They're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kinds. And everybody should reject it. It's gross."

The fact this whole VCE stuffup was caused by a decision to go from a serif to a sans serif font almost makes me think it was worth it.

Assume the rest of the world's foreign policy for the next 4 years is seeing how much we can ignore the US.

Where are all those fuckers insisting that they had to vote for Trump because "he supports free speech, while Kamala supports censorship"?

This thread x100. Happening all over the world.
RFK announcement puts a fine point on something I've been trying to articulate and is a theme of the Trump years. It's something I've wrestled with and that a lot of Dem messaging has gotten wrong. Part of what Trump does is constantly divide the country along the lines of pro-system and anti-system

Two things we've seen from Trump in the past week:
- Appointing superspreaders of misinformation to high office.
- Announcing that social media media platforms will no longer be allowed to act against misinformation.

It's going to be quite the ride.

Disturbing prediction from @pkrugman.bsky.social: If Trump's deportations really happen, inflation will spike, then MAGA loyalists will corrupt government info to mask it.

For autocrats, he says, "among their first targets are statistical agencies."

Looks to me like Russia just won the Cold War. No other way to describe Trump's cabinet. Nice work @thedemocrats.bsky.social

When you govern the way the Dems have, the consequences are clear.

What will be even worse is when the Trump administration comes to the defense of the men saying "your body, my choice," framing it as a question of "free speech" vs. the woke tyrants in our public schools who want to silence men. This will disincentivize administrators to respond to such harassment.
