Good morning from #TeamGP .

Day of on call with the incredible team @BBB_Health .

General Practice is the foundation of #NHS .

We need more GPs to look after patients who need us.

There are GPs looking for jobs and we currently don’t have funds to employ them permanently.

My new book ‘The Cancer Roadmap’ was launched today

It’s for anyone affected by cancer
It tells you what is it, what causes it, how it’s treated, who to trust, how to understand risk + spot red flags on social media when it comes to alternative cures.

Couldn’t agree more, @mancunianmedic.bsky.social. I wrote a substack on the same subject recently, giving a view from the patient side. open.substack.com/pub/rmolloy/...

My latest @bmj.com piece . Having spent much of Tuesday in a severely overcrowded ED with corridor/waiting room care galore & much of Monday on a ward unable to discharge patients waiting for community services that they absolutely *do* need - policy meets real life.

David Oliver: Losing too many NHS hospital beds has been an act of avoidable self-sabotage with predictable consequences
In recent decades we’ve surely lost too many general and acute hospital beds in the UK, without creating sufficient alternative capacity outside hospital. This has resulted in entirely predictable ris...

This shocking report must be a wake up call for the government.

14 years of Conservative cuts & underfunding won't be fixed overnight.

But Labour's pursuit of further privatisation & refusal to give the NHS the investment it needs will only make things worse, and cost more patients' lives.

GP CRISIS
GPs unemployed @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social has been told this enough
£100m for ARRS GPs has seen just 88 employed so far
Potentially 3000 GPs available for work now if funding was given to GP practices
PCN/ARRS (additional roles) isn’t working & a restrictive practice

Missed this at the time - such a thoughtful, measured & predictably wise piece from @pwhitakerwriter.bsky.social on assisted dying. www.newstatesman.com/politics/hea...
For assisted dying to work, GPs need to know their patients
Ending a life must be a choice made between alternatives; not one taken because of a failure to provide proper healthcare.
