My latest @bmj.com piece . Having spent much of Tuesday in a severely overcrowded ED with corridor/waiting room care galore & much of Monday on a ward unable to discharge patients waiting for community services that they absolutely *do* need - policy meets real life.

This shocking report must be a wake up call for the government.
14 years of Conservative cuts & underfunding won't be fixed overnight.
But Labour's pursuit of further privatisation & refusal to give the NHS the investment it needs will only make things worse, and cost more patients' lives.

£100m for ARRS GPs has seen just 88 employed so far
Potentially 3000 GPs available for work now if funding was given to GP practices

For assisted dying to work, GPs need to know their patients
Ending a life must be a choice made between alternatives; not one taken because of a failure to provide proper healthcare.
