Totally agree. More beds, more staff, better social care. And as you have shown, so much evidence for it and something we have known for some time with no resolution. I must add, I am recently retired from clinical work so free of the moral injury now!

Yes, acute medical physicians like yourself definitely have it worst. I’m not sure if your comments are a response to my article? Don’t think we need to compare workloads regarding this topic, just recognise the far reaching consequences of not enough beds - for staff and patients alike.

Yes, I’m always struck by how, in order to cope, staff normalise it - the only way to survive but just not fair on them to come in every day and face the extra risk it creates. A recipe for burnout.
