When I see the glee with which Black Americans greet the Nottoway plantation fire, it makes me think of the Black joy that the Haitian Revolution sparked when my ancestors burned the plantation houses and crops for 13 years until Napoleon's troops capitulated. Happy Haitian Flag day! 🇭🇹
