Read this and got irritated. Recommendations get valid but no acknowledgement of huge financial pressures these schools are under. We need government to prioritise early years, that means funding

Vague research-style homeworks. As a parent, I can't stand them. As a teacher I struggled to see the benefit.

Thoughtful thread.
Suspect this will go down like a bag of sick, but I think exam review meetings are important and worthwhile. I do think it's quite easy to make them rubbish though.

This is why using Subject Communities is so important, in my view. A booklet that is too prescriptive becomes the curriculum. We talk about ‘products’ of the curr. — this is what a booklet is. It then becomes adaptable by teachers who use their time to consider the ‘fruitful encounter’ with content.
I feel similar about booklets that are too prescriptive and people haven't been involved in the design. I'm happy for some admin tasks and some of the bigger thinking to sit away from class teachers but they need to know the why and have space to explore etc. Of course creating resources is thinking

Every single thing that costs money or has “fund” attached to it is currently held up at the DFE.

This is understandable given what they inherited.

It won’t be understandable for long, though. If there is bad news coming, we need to know it asap.
