My friend who I made go to the park with me was like, "literally how did you spot that?" and the answer is I also thought every piece of trash and person or dog in the distance was a dog. So I just happened to be right that time.

A dock to birdwatch on.....

I was apparently really close to a green heron another time, as I learned when someone exclaimed "a green heron just flew overhead!!" but I wasn't wearing my glasses and also it was gone by that point. But. All is well now.

The thing is I kinda have an absurd number of photos of herons on my phone. Absbird. No that didn't work.

I was gonna be like "I know that photo actually turned out good, but friends and family should ask me for my outtakes." But then I decided everyone should see an outtake. Because even a bad bird photo still has a bird photo in it, making it good actually!!

Upside of the monocular I got in June: fits really easily in my backpack so I can birdwatch better on my walk home from work
Downside: holding it up to my phone is difficult so I also end up w photos that look like this
