I think I maybe saw this heron catch something and eat it, which might explain why it spent over 5 minutes afterwards with its beak slightly agape

The lush and beautiful blooming foliage of Spring is great except for how it makes it harder to spot birds.

This used to be a geese/gosling hang out spot but it seems this heron has taken it over 👍

Anyway sorry about the lack of heron photos lately. They've mostly been flying or far away so I haven't been taking them as much. However, I finally got a gizmo to connect my phone to my binoculars stably, so I'll go take more again soon!!

I've set sufficient precedent that people will send their heron pics to the family groupchat. Which means I just got to see a picture of a yellow crowned night heron. YAY!

Got my first legitimately good photos of a heron in flight today but I'm still impossible to please bc I'm dreaming of the photos I could've gotten if my finger had been lined up right to take photos of it taking off right in front of me 1 minute before

After days of being too busy to make it to the marsh, I finally returned and saw THREE herons!! Shout out to the dog walker who pointed the last one out to me, I'd have missed it otherwise.

Only 1 heron today but it was pretty close to the path. AND the cherry trees are looking good 🌸👍

Today's two herons were (1) flying away or (2) sleepy, BUT I also saw some Buffleheads!
