There should be public dialogue from Dem leaders about what the medium-long term political strategy against Trumpism is. They don't want impeachment (not enough votes) so what can a Dem congress do that's more effective? Is there a philosophy other than "Vote for us and hope something good happens?"

the idea that a handful of conservative legal scholars have an understanding that should supersede a settlement affirmed my generations of american is astoundingly arrogant, and the idea that trump — or any president — can unilaterally overturn that settlement is just despotism

Increasingly we need candidates who'd be comfortable cutting a wrestling promo
Mamdani: "I just want to speak directly to the president. I will not be a mayor like Mayor Adams who will call you to stay out of jail. I won't be a disgraced governor like Andrew Cuomo who will call you to ask how to win this election. I can do those things on my own."

One reason the Dem establishment hates Mamdani is that he's just *better at this than they are*. He just talks like an authentic human about things that matter & people respond & it breaks their poll-tested, consultant-cooked brains.
There's a strange tendency in center-left discourse to treat Zohran's focus on cost-of-living as the *only* reason he's succeeding. Yes, it's critical. But that overlooks the other big thing he's doing: Relentlessly highlighting Trump's authoritarian abuses.

good blog about the myth of "the high IQ genius" that includes the banger of a quote Stephen Hawking gave when someone asked him what his IQ was: "I have no idea. People who boast about their IQ are losers.”

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

One fascinating thing about the most self-serious newspaper in America with its staff of the winning journalistic meritocrats is that it routinely, institutionally publishes completely made-up bullshit speculation about pure abstractions, based on zero reporting, written as if it were plain facts

With Gawker, there was at least a non-frivolous claim. (It wasn't worth $140m and the judgment should've been stayed pending appeal.)

With Media Matters, there's nothing here, no reason for them to have legal bills at all, just judges and AGs breaking their oaths to crush it.

really interesting that we don’t have a cultural panic about group think and intellectual homogeneity among the most powerful money men in the country. all the more interesting when a bunch of them have clearly lost their mind.
I wrote about venture capitalist Shaun Maguire, his accusations that Zohran Mamdani is a "secret Islamist," and his emergence as a leading right wing voice in the tech industry.

Shaun Maguire's posts about Zohran Mamdani shocked many. Not the people who know him.
